About The Ivy Chichester
The Ivy Chichester is a British restaurant at 89-91 East St in Chichester, open daily and close to Chichester Festival Theatre. The menu includes French onion soup and duck liver pâté. For dessert, the kitchen sends out a chocolate bombe and pours hot caramel sauce over it at the table. A set menu runs at lunch, and wine is served in a carafe. Inside, the space is split between a main restaurant and a central bar with a dining counter, where guests can sit. A private dining room is set aside for groups.

Customer Review Summary
The chocolate bomb draws the most praise, vanilla ice cream on chocolate mousse under a chocolate-honeycomb shell that melts when hot caramel sauce is poured at the table. Close behind are the onion soup, called extremely good, the duck liver pate with caramelized hazelnuts, the duck salad, and a sourdough and zucchini starter one diner would return for alone. Staff are described as friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, and the decor as beautiful. Caveats are specific: the cheese souffle was only ok, one reviewer says the food is good but they have eaten better and it is a bit pricey, and another found guests loud. A reviewer who visited soon after opening recalls bland food, being forgotten, missing side dishes, and feeling looked down upon, though they say it has since transformed. Several celebrating diners received a small extra, including a birthday profiterole and a sweet for a wedding anniversary.

“What a beautiful restaurant. I remember visiting shortly after it first opened, and unfortunately my experience at the time was very disappointing. The food was bland, the service was exceptionally slow (we were literally forgotten), and I found some of the staff rather unfriendly and too judgemental. I arrived in smart casual clothing and felt noticeably looked down upon, yet when my husband arrived in a suit, the attitude seemed to change entirely. To make matters worse, my side dishes never arrived, and we waited over 50 minutes for a simple fish course. Fast forward a few years, and the transformation has been remarkable. This is now a truly fantastic restaurant serving delicious food. I recently hosted a small family celebration there, and it was one of the finest meals I have had in a very long time. Everyone in our party was equally complimentary about the food. A birthday profiterole was also brought to the table, which was a lovely and thoughtful touch. The staff were prompt, attentive, and unfailingly polite throughout the evening. We now return regularly and are delighted that we decided to give the restaurant another chance. It has become one of our favourite places to dine.”

“Had a lovely meal here on Friday. Looked after perfectly by Cady (and on her break, a lovely young man). Service was excellent, food was very good indeed and a lovely little extra sweet for us as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary 🩷 Love the wine served in a carafe . Fabulous sour dough and zucchini - worth returning just for this alone! Beautiful decor, charming and friendly staff . This Ivy has upped its game and it was a joy to go to.”
