Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the buffet's choice and value, with chow mein, spare ribs, sushi, spring rolls and chilli chicken named as favourites, and Tsingtao beer mentioned alongside. Several describe fresh, hot food, friendly staff and a clean room, and one calls it a go-to before the cinema. Battered chicken wings and sweet and sour chicken also draw praise, even in a poor review. Opinion is split on quality, though. Critics describe food arriving cold or lukewarm, watered-down soup, stale prawn crackers, cold banana fritters and a rock-hard chocolate ice cream. One reviewer says the prawns have become watery with the heads on. Another reports undercooked, raw-textured chicken and says they will take the matter further. One reviewer found a discounted weekday had noticeably fewer dishes, and another found soft drinks expensive. Staff are described as ignorant by one diner, and in the most serious account they refused a refund and laughed when the cold chicken was raised.

“Found this restaurant to meet up with friends....at £18 we found it a great price for a buffet...drinks were pretty cheap too! A good selection of food, and variety😋🤤. Staff friendly....but we were thrown out at 9pm so they could close....we didn't realise the time!🫣 Would return if we were back in Carlisle 😄”

“Absolutely unacceptable experience from start to finish. The chicken served was visibly undercooked in the middle, cold, and completely inedible. Multiple pieces had a raw texture and could not be eaten safely. All three plates we ordered had issues, and the overall quality of the food was extremely poor. The rest of the food was also disappointing, with items clearly sitting out too long before being served and arriving cold rather than freshly prepared. When this was raised with staff, instead of taking the concern seriously, we were told it was due to “seasoning,” which does not explain or justify raw and cold chicken. When we requested a refund, staff refused and laughed when the issue was brought up, which was unprofessional and dismissive. Beer was warm and undrinkable. The atmosphere matched the experience: disorganised, unwelcoming, and lacking any attention to basic food service standards. Food safety should be taken seriously, and unfortunately this experience fell far below an acceptable standard. I will be taking this matter further due to the nature of the food served and the refusal to address it properly.”

“The food is very nice with drinks, very good comfortable environment. The prawns used to taste very nice when fried or grilled, but it’s very watering with the head on and doesn’t taste nice to me anymore like before. Please improve on the prawns recipe to grilled or rather get two different one either cooked or grilled for customers to make a choice. Thank you.”

“Where do I start, went as a part of three, myself and two daughters. We were sat at mismatching tables both colour and sized which seated six when there were plenty good tables of four free. Straight away the experience was dented. Why would you have a white table in amongst wood coloured ones anyway !!! Service to be seated was a tad slow but not to the point where I would be ready to say something like Hi have you seen me !!!. Large diet cokes ordered, pint glass crammed with ice and probably a can of coke worth of liquid if you’re lucky. I started with the chicken sweetcorn soup, which if it was watered down much more could have passed for tap water, the chicken also appeared to have ran away before being boiled as I couldn’t find it. The prawn crackers were stale and chewy. Moving on I then opted for some battered style chicken wings, these were decent, infact they were better than decent. Main course I had some egg fried rice with a small amount of sweet and sour chicken (this was really good), and a small amount of satay chicken, this tasted really good too, but I think they forgot to heat it up, felt like I was polishing off lasts night curry after heavy session ! Desert can never been faulted right !!! Wrong, the banana fritters were cold and the syrup (also cold) was the most watered down syrup I’ve ever seen. The chocolate ice cream gave a new meaning to frozen and ideally should come with a chisel as the serving scoop in dirty looking water wasn’t really up to the task. It’s been years since I have been to this buffet in Carlisle and it will easily be years before I return again. It feels unhygienic, the food is like warm at best and I left £50 worse off than when I entered. I am guessing that if the council attended and checked the food they would be getting a slap on the wrist for it not being kept at temperature to combat bacteria growth. Loads of nice places to eat in Carlisle so my advice is give this place a wide berth and eat else where. Oh and the staff were pretty ignorant, even when clearing the table they didn’t manage a grunt when I said thank you.”

“Went in Wednesday as it had a 20% off offer on, didn't realise until after we paid and sat down that there was 25% less dishes on offer compared to a normal day, rip off, if another buffet opened in carlisle I believe this one would close down very quickly, only reason they're still there is there's no competition”
