Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the riverside balcony, where tables over the River Cam let diners watch punting boats glide by, and several celebrating anniversaries and birthdays describe being fitted in at short notice. The sea bass is the dish named most, with one calling it among the best they have tried and another praising its sweet potato mash and sauce. Close behind are the Thai chicken with coconut risotto, the beetroot salad with halloumi, the pastry basket starter and the English Garden cocktail, while one reviewer calls the dessert delicious. Servers are repeatedly described as friendly, personable and helpful. The recurring complaint is about the food. One diner found the portions small, with a seafood linguine of three mussels and three prawns that arrived lukewarm, and another found the cauliflower steak so hard it needed a steak knife. One family marking a daughter's birthday had a glass of prosecco bought for her by the staff.

“Lovely little find while out punting. We popped in to see if we could book a table., for the evening we wanted somewhere nice to celebrate our anniversary. The guy was so lovely and very accommodating. The food was amazing, our waiter Damian was so lovely and friendly would absolutely recommend this place.”

“Visited 20/07, 3 people. Total bill approx £135. Location 10/10. Service 9/10. Food 7/10. Whilst the food was presented beautifully, I was surprised at the portion sizes and was still left wanting more after a starter and main. Starter of muscles and a prawn dish which we shared between 3 people. Seabass - fish was cooked beautifully, the sweet potato mash was tasty and the sauce really made the dish. Seafood linguine - despite what it looks like on the photo, the portion was pretty small. The pasta was cooked nicely, 3 mussels and 3 prawns, but both these dishes were lukewarm. The dish also needed a drizzle of sauce to finish it off.”
