Quick info
About Market Square Coffee & Cake
Market Square Coffee & Cake is an independent cafe stall in Cambridge Market Square, serving from a small trailer on Market Hill. The cakes are baked in a bakery in the owners' garden just outside Cambridge, using local ingredients where possible. Lemon drizzle cake and apple and cinnamon cake are among the bakes, and an almond croissant sits alongside them for anyone wanting something lighter. Drinks come from a lever coffee machine mounted on the side of the trailer, and the house blend is ground fresh for every cup. Because the whole operation runs from one trailer, the baking and the coffee are handled by the same small team from start to finish.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the coffee, with the cappuccino, latte, iced latte with caramel and hazelnut syrup, and flat white all praised, and several call it the best they have had. Cakes come close behind, led by the apple and cinnamon cake, the walnut, apple and cinnamon cake, the lemon drizzle and a chocolate brownie described as gooey, soft and chocolatey. One reviewer calls the almond croissant the biggest they have seen, and the size of the slices comes up more than once. Staff are described as friendly, lovely and cheerful, and the barista is said to know his stuff. The only reservations are small ones: one reviewer finds the pastries on the cakey side rather than flaky, and another says the carrot cake did not taste of carrots, though both still enjoyed it. One reviewer says they would go every day if the stall ran seven days a week.

“What can I say… taste tantalising lethal lemon drizzle cake.. my tastebuds are also quite partial to the dangerous chocolate brownie and all accompanied by exquisitely extracted ethical flat white (boom). All purchased from two very cheerful and positive people. Thank you. Vic Holt”
