About Cafe Milano

On St Andrew's St in Cambridge, Cafe Milano is an Italian cafe covering breakfast, pizza, and pastry in one menu. The kitchen turns out pizza, sandwiches, and lasagna alongside Italian breakfasts, while the counter holds a large selection of cakes, croissants, and other Italian sweets to go with the coffee. Customer Review Summary

Cakes and coffee form the clear draw at Cafe Milano, with reviewers repeatedly praising the coffee alongside a big choice of cakes, croissants, and Italian sweets, and several singling out afternoon tea and cake stops as a highlight. Close behind, the lasagna and breakfasts draw specific recommendation from one reviewer who returned three times in two days, and the homemade-style pizza and sandwiches earn praise for tasting better than chain coffee shop fare. Staff are described by most as friendly and helpful, with one reviewer recalling a waitress preparing an off-menu mozzarella, olive, and tomato plate. Complaints recur around service breaking down when busy: one reviewer's cheesecake arrived crushed with no replacement offered, another's takeaway pizza had a five millimetre layer of uncooked dough, and a couple mention waffles unavailable due to short staffing or drinks and food forgotten during rushes. One reviewer also notes the displayed spirits on the shelf are for show only and not actually for sale. One diner suggests going in the late afternoon to avoid the busier periods.

“It was ok. Went in the late afternoon, just had a small bite, little bland. They have wine and beer in offer. There are many other spirits in the shelf but these are only for display, but misleading.”

“Popped over for waffles and Italian breakfast. They were short of staff so didn't offer any waffles. There are too cakes, croissants and Italian sweets treat + good coffee. We will be back, so fingers crossed they'll make some waffles for us next time”
