The Geldart
Quick info
About The Geldart
On Ainsworth St in Cambridge, The Geldart is a gastropub in a Victorian corner pub on the back streets. Its kitchen cooks at the table on hot rocks, with Moroccan lamb skewers and stone-cooked beef and venison steaks on the menu. A pork belly Sunday roast comes with Yorkshire puddings and gravy. At the bar, the drinks list covers real ales, a selection of whiskey and rum, and alcohol-free options. The decor follows a music theme, with instruments displayed around the pub, and live music and gig nights give the theme a working stage. Tables are lit by candles. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out food cooked on hot rocks, from Moroccan lamb skewers to stone cooked beef and venison steaks, and one reviewer describes the extremely tasty food being cooked in front of them. Close behind is the Sunday roast, where one reviewer praises the pork belly, five vegetables, gravy and Yorkshire puddings, alongside a chicken schnitzel and salt and pepper squid. Others name fish and chips, a pie, chicken soup and spiced chips as standouts. Reviewers also praise a great range of real ales, plus whiskey, rum, seasonal mulled wine and alcohol free options. The interior is called quirky and unique, with a music theme and instruments everywhere, and one reviewer compares it to a museum. Service is repeatedly described as friendly and prompt, and several call it a pub where real locals go. On a live music night when the pub was fully booked, one party was still seated in an enclosed outdoor area and the food arrived quickly.

“Great pub for both locals and visitors. Quirky interior with a music theme. Great range of real ales and other drinks. Food was excellent and at a reasonable price, I had the Moroccan lamb skewers served on a hot rock, it was great. The service was also exceptional, friendly, informative and prompt. Would highly recommend!”

“The wasn't just good, it was outstanding. Just pie and chicken soup and spiced chips - but maybe the best of each we've had?! Topped off with great service and a nice vibe, we were so pleased we decided to stay for dinner.”

“Geldart is a very local place and a pleasure to discover. It’s a great pub where real locals go, with a delicious menu as well. We especially love the fish and chips.”

“We ordered 2 pork belly Sunday roast, 1 chicken schnitzel and 1 salt & pepper squid (see photos). Each of the 5 vegs in the roast are very delicious. They are soft and sweet (but not too sweet). The gravy, potatoes and Yorkshire puddings are nice and just right. In my opinion this is the best Sunday roast in Cambridge. Certainly the vegs. The pork belly themselves are delicious too. They are soft enough and were cooked to perfection in terms of moist and taste. The schnitzel was very tasty too. As were the squids. A very nice Sunday lunch experience. The service was quick. They were fully booked as there was live music, but they let us sit outside (still enclosed space, not fully outdoor). And the food came out quickly. The decor is amazing. Lots of musical instruments everywhere. It's like being in a museum. Thank you Geldart. It's easy to park at Asda and walk 5 mins.”
