  “I tried Lucky Chinese for the second time and this time around I ordered sweet and sour pork hong kong style and chicken satay skewers. I ordered in person so I had to wait around 15min but it was worth it. Considering the wait time im pretty sure they prepare everything fresh. The food was piping hot. I really liked the pork, and also the chicken satay was amazing. Definitely worth a try if you fancy some takeaway. I paid around £14 and the portions were not small, I would say you get what you pay for.”

  “Amazing, food was SPOT on. Service was great and fast. The lady on the phone was lovely and helpful. The child was smiling and helping with orders which I love to see ( Keep it up little man 💪 ). The atmosphere was cozy and very likeable. Overall I agree perfectly with my 5 stars. Also even better adding in FREE prawn crackers, like who doesn’t like FREE prawn crackers. Loved it, if anyone is reading this I would definitely recommend it. Best wishes, Dave.”

  “We’re new to the area and have ordered twice from this restaurant - once collected, and once we tried the delivery (which is very difficult to come by where we live in Chailey, so to have the option was great!). The first time we ate here it was delicious - ready when we arrived but still piping hot, everything was perfectly flavourful and the staff were super friendly. So we tried again tonight and attempted a delivery, bearing in mind it was peak evening time on a Saturday when we ordered, the food arrived sooner than we expected (in about 40 mins) and nothing needed reheating which is usually not the case with a delivery! The food was just as delicious as the first time too. Definitely found our local go-to for Chinese takeaway! Thank you :)”

  “Order a meal for 2 from set menu this evening. After initial problems trying to order online, ordered over the phone. Turned up on time and was great value for money. Could have fed 3 easily. Tasted great as well. Would highly recommend for a great takeaway.”

  “Lucky Chinese in Burgess Hill is honestly a gem 🍜🔥 — the kind of place that reminds you why a proper Chinese takeaway is unbeatable when it’s done right. The food comes out hot, fresh, and full of that real wok-fired flavour you can’t fake. The crispy chilli beef actually stays crispy, the chow mein has that smoky depth, and the sauces aren’t overly sweet or watery — they’re balanced the way they should be. Places like this don’t get called “amazing” by accident. It takes consistency, solid ingredients, and chefs who know their craft. If you’ve got Lucky Chinese on your doorstep, you’re genuinely fortunate — because once you’ve tasted a takeaway that good, average just doesn’t cut it anymore.”

  “No idea on food this time, ordered at 7 spoke at 815 told 45.mins, 915 told could be up to another hour so cancelled the order. Normally food is good and so is portion size.”

  “Food arrived warm, but that’s where the positives end. Everything was extremely bland with no real flavour, and the textures were awful - soggy, greasy, and generally unpleasant. Our spring rolls were missing completely. The food also gave us serious concerns about hygiene based on how it looked and felt, which made it hard to enjoy at all. For £40, this was a huge disappointment and very poor value. Won’t be ordering again.”

  “New to Burgess hill and this is by far the worst Chinese I have ever had . I ordered a special fried rice with sauce . There was no sauce and it was definitely not fried . It was boiled meats and veg chucked on top of soggy rice . The beef was fatty, chicken and prawns were slimy and the pork was okay but dry . Chicken satay skewers were tough and inedible. Would not recommend”

  “I rarely leave bad reviews as in this climate especially id never want a business to suffer but also I feel the reviews are quite misleading and didn’t represent what I experienced sadly. I spent over £65 so I could try a variation of bits they offer and hopefully have myself a new local Chinese to order from. But it was really disappointing unfortunately. After reading the reviews I expected really nice food but did not receive this. Firstly the delivery driver was lovely and delivery was within 50 minutes of ordering & I also called to query a dish & the staff member was very polite on the phone. Ordering was also very easy online and I paid with apple pay via their website. However the quality was poor for a lot of dishes ie crispy chilli beef it wasn’t even tossed in the sauce the sauce was in the bottom of the container & the actual beef was soft dry and tough to bite just placed on top. The chicken balls were lovely BUT the chicken noodles were very dry and plain. I ordered chicken satay and as the photo shows it was very strange chicken. It was like it had been deep fried but it was inedible and stringy I couldn’t even take a bite it wouldn’t come off I had to peel it. The satay sauce was quite watery but the chicken and mushrooms and beef and mushrooms were ok. I would really advise the resturant to improve the quality of their food especially due to the prices of the items. This is by no means the cheapest Chinese in the area and therefore I would expect good quality food. Instead sadly £65 has been wasted and I even binned the leftovers when I would usually keep for the next day. Very upsetting.”

  “Ordered fried rice and fried noodles for dinner. The delivery was quick and the food was hot when it reached us. The appetizers were nice and versatile. Strangley there were no chopsticks,spoons or forks provided. The food was ample for 2 people. Will be coming back for sure for some beef, duck and pork dishes.”
