Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the Sunday roast, with the lamb roast singled out as cooked to perfection and faultless, while the roast beef, chicken and burger and chips also get good words, along with the desserts and vegetables. Close behind is the welcome: diners describe friendly staff who handled a busy group booking without feeling rushed, a baby shower for twelve, and locals who were warm to first-time visitors. The pub is repeatedly described as dog friendly, backing onto Epping Forest, with one reviewer noting the offer of dog biscuits on arrival. One reviewer also pointed out Kronenbourg 1664 on tap and a sunny garden for drinks before a meal. The one negative review is a single complaint about a strong smell throughout the pub and a landlord who took the microphone and rapped late in the evening, and the reviewer did not recommend it. Many others close on returning, with some walkers ending up there after a stroll in the forest.

“This is a dog friendly pub. That backs onto Knighton Woods / Eppping Forest. As soon as we arrived we were asked if we would like some dog biscuits. We said no thank you, since we were here to eat from their delicious menu, but our our dog Bertie would greatly appreciate some. GREAT food , FRIENDLY staff. We will certainly be making a return visit.”
