Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what reviewers return to most, described as delicious, with the roast trio and a veggie roast both singled out, and a vegan Sunday lunch called outstanding by one diner. Service is repeatedly called friendly, polite and attentive, and one group of 35 staff had a festive lunch where all dishes arrived together. The burger and chips earn praise from one reviewer, and others like the garden seating, the beer range including craft beers and ales, and the dog-friendly pub. Complaints are smaller but specific. One diner found the roast trio came without crackling, though extra roast potatoes and gravy followed, and the coffee machine was loud near the tables. Another felt Sunday lunch was a little overpriced, and one wanted more vegan or veggie choices on the bar menu. The most critical visit involved a fried chicken burger with a burnt bun, no lettuce and overfried chicken, where staff only swapped the bun, and chips were charged separately for a small portion.

“I've just had a Sunday Roast today in the Traveller’s Friend today. The Veggie option was good, the veg was lovely. The service was outstanding, the Food was delicious. 10/10 I will definitely be returning.”

“Outstanding vegan Sunday lunch that the Duke of Wellington would have been proud off. Emma, the manager, was so incredibly friendly and looked after our mixed party of mum and dad, grandparents and the little ones with exceptional patience. The chefs were caring and likewise proud of their craft. My only minor criticism is a lack of vegan or veggie options, even on the bar menu. But that aside the best Sunday roast by far in the area and beyond.”

“Most pub lunches are average but this is no pub, it’s a mega delicious Sunday lunch experience. Great and friendly service and delicious roast.”

“Fantastic! We visited the Travellers Friend for a weekday, set festive lunch with a group of 35 staff, and everything was absolutely spot on: the décor, seating, service, ambience, and of course the food. Despite our large group, all dishes were served together, each beautifully presented and tasting delicious. Everyone was genuinely impressed by the quality throughout and the high standards the restaurant clearly prides itself on. This place is an absolute gem bringing high-end dining to Woodford Green at reasonable prices. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend.”
