About OddKin Coffee Roasters
On Kenn Court in Bristol, OddKin Coffee Roasters is a coffee roastery that supplies fresh crop single origin coffees to home brewers and wholesale partners. It also teaches barista courses in small groups of four, each running about two and a half hours. The course follows coffee from crop to cup, including how the beans are processed and roasted, and then moves to the bar. Students learn espresso, grinder setting and how to steam milk, then practise latte art, including the latte heart. A latte art competition runs during the session, and a successful latte heart wins a complimentary bag of coffee. Along the way, everyone samples a range of coffees.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come almost entirely for the Sunday morning barista course, and the latte art heart is the moment they mention most. One reviewer was surprised to win a complimentary bag of coffee for theirs, another finally managed a heart after failing at it before, and a latte art competition is described as super fun. Close behind is the grounding in how coffee gets from crop to cup: processing of the coffee berries, roasting, the supply chain and types of beans, then espresso, grinder settings and steaming milk. The small group of four is called intimate and well paced, with plenty of time for questions and practice, and several describe starting with no knowledge and leaving able to make better coffee at home. Tutors are repeatedly called knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly, and a family and a father and child both took the course together. Tasting a range of coffees is a regular part of the session, and reviewers call the coffee delicious. No complaints appear in the reviews, and one reviewer says they will be booking further courses.

“I did the Barista course with my Dad ran by Jess. She was very knowledgeable and guided us through the stages from crop to cup before teaching us about espresso coffee and the elements to it before teaching us how to steam milk. We loved it and would recommend the course.”

“I have just attended the Barista course. 2.5 hours of pure gold. Jess chaired the course. She was the most knowledgeable, interesting, skilful and helpful tutor you could wish to meet. Incredible how she could even guide me to produce a latte art heart that I had failed so miserably with until today. 100% recommendation from me. I will definitely be booking further courses with Oddkin. Don’t hesitate to book this. If you’re lucky, Jess may even introduce you to Trevor. You’ll find out who Trevor is when you go!”

“We had a great experience learning latte art, Preet was fantastic at explaining the techniques, breaking everything down into simple tips and tricks that were easy to follow. We had plenty of opportunities to practice, along with lots of delicious coffee to enjoy. I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking to improve their skills at home :)”

“It was an amazing course — Christina took us through everything step by step, nice and slowly, making sure we genuinely understood what we were doing. With only four of us in the class, it felt perfectly paced. Two and a half hours gave us loads of time for questions, practice, and a proper deep dive into the world of coffee. I came in with absolutely zero knowledge — just your typical instant‑coffee drinker or “black coffee anywhere” kind of person — but now I actually understand the art and science behind it. From the origins of coffee to the foundations of being a barista, everything suddenly clicked. My taste buds have officially upgraded. They’ve abandoned their instant‑coffee past and stepped proudly into the world of specialty brews.”
