Ka:Fei
About Ka:Fei
Outdoor seats sit under a large tree at Ka:Fei, a coffee shop on Colston Ave in central Bristol, with the roads and the city in view from the tables for anyone who wants to drink outside. Espresso-based drinks lead the offering, including a flat white and espresso with steamed milk, and hot chocolate is a recurring order alongside the coffee. Orders go in at the counter and no reservations are taken, so it works as a walk-in stop. The team explains what is on offer and takes special requests when you order. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance lets visitors with mobility needs get in and out without a step. The café trades Wednesday to Sunday during the daytime, and it stays closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the coffee, naming a flat white with strong aftertaste and aroma and an espresso described as strong and creamy with well frothed milk. One calls it the best of the highly recommended Bristol coffee shops. Close behind is the hot chocolate, called rich, delicious and lovely by several. The setting under a big tree, built from shipping containers, draws comments on people watching, fresh air and sitting in the sunshine. Staff are described as friendly, with one regular saying the barista remembers their order after years away, and another noting a detailed explanation of the products. Others mention an iced matcha, plus a blondie and a blueberry Bakewell, all vegan pastries. The caveats are small: one reviewer finds the coffee only ok next to the hot chocolate, and another says the spot can be noisy with the surrounding roads, suggesting weekday afternoons. A returning customer closes the loop by saying they recommend it to friends for a great coffee and a friendly face.

“I visited most of the highly recommended coffee shops in Bristol but Ka:Fei was the best. Excellent, strong and creamy espresso and well frothed milk. Thanks for reminding me the coffee in Melbourne.”

“This café is really special — it’s made out of shipping containers, which gives it a unique and creative vibe. The owner is super friendly, and I ordered a cup of hot chocolate that was rich and delicious. Having one in winter feels especially comforting and warm. The staff are attentive and provide excellent service. Wishing the café great success and thriving business!”
