Foliage Cafe
About Foliage Cafe
On Regent St, Foliage Cafe is a walk-in coffee shop open daily. The counter offers V60 coffee and a beetroot latte alongside the usual espresso range, and beans are sold whole or ground on request. Food runs to overnight oats, poached eggs on toast, sourdough toast and cinnamon buns. Dogs are welcome inside, with a free puppy treats jar kept on the counter, and outdoor seating gives an option beyond the small, tightly packed interior where tables sit close together. High chairs are available for families with young children. Tables are kept laptop-free, keeping the space geared toward eating and drinking rather than working. There is no booking system, so seats are taken as they come, and the room can fill up at busier times.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee is what reviewers raise most, from a V60 and a good espresso machine to a vanilla latte and a cup with a strong dark chocolate aftertaste. Brunch comes close behind, with diners naming poached eggs on toast, overnight oats, very crispy bacon in an avocado sandwich, crunchy sourdough toast and burrata with tomatoes. Cakes and cinnamon buns also draw praise. Staff are described as friendly and quick, and a couple of reviewers mention healthy options. The small room is the recurring trade-off. Reviewers describe it as crowded at weekends, with tight walking space between tables, and on one busy Sunday the food arrived after the drink was finished. A few drinks missed too: one reviewer found the beetroot latte tasted only of milk, and another reported a chemical-tasting coffee and a sausage roll cold inside. One reviewer suggests asking for an extra straw, since the paper ones disintegrate quickly. The same reviewer mentions a free jar of puppy treats on the counter.

“Nice looking. Just left 3:20 Thursday 18th June 26. Coffee had a chemical taste and sausage roll was cold on inside. Left after eating half of sausage roll. I had to leave as did not have time for a reheat. £8 wasted. I have seen the other reviews so assume this is a one off. I will try again next week.”

“Lovely place! Great service, really kind staff, and super speedy. It’s also dog friendly even inside!! They even have a free little puppy treats jar on the counter. Haven’t tried the baked goods yet but the coffee is delicious (recommend vanilla flavor over caramel, personally). Huge fan of the no-laptops policy, keeps the atmosphere really authentic, lovely to see groups of tables all focused on each other intentionally! There is a park nearby if you really need to be on your laptop and the coffee cups travel well (maybe ask for an extra straw if you’re leaving though as the straws are paper without any plastic coating, which is great for recycle, but they do disintegrate very quickly after you’ve left).”

“Excellent coffee and service, with a great range of pastries and sandwiches. They sell beans as well and will also grind them for you. Rather trendy indeed.”

“When we went to Bristol we decided to visit this coffee shop in Clifton. When we entered it was not that busy and they had a good espresso machine!!!. I realised on the menu that they had a V60 coffee option so I decided to try it! When I had my cake and V60 it was very good and i enjoyed it a lot! Overall I would say this probably one of the best coffee shops in Clifton?”

“Always love coming here for lovely food & hot drinks, my favourites are the overnight Oats & poached eggs on toast. It can get quite busy especially on weekends, and being a smaller establishment tables can become sparse. I'd say £10 - £15 per person is to be expected, but most of the time the price is worth the quality of food. Always a lovely calm atmosphere, and service behind the counter is cheerful.”
