About The Rose & Crown
The Rose & Crown is a bar on Parkfield Rd in Bristol, where alpacas live in the garden and small bags of alpaca food are on hand for visitors to feed them. The animals have a shelter in the garden and car park area. Inside, the pub is divided into snugs, a bar and a dining room, so there are separate spaces to choose from. The kitchen turns out roast dinners, with lamb leg roast, beef roast or a meat trio of beef, chicken and pork. Each plate comes with Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and gravy. Dogs are welcome, which suits walkers and riders who stop in with a pet. BRITSTOP members are also welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what most reviewers come for, with the lamb leg roast and the trio of beef, chicken and pork singled out, along with a pork that had great crackling and roast potatoes that are still being talked about. The beef roast and a mushroom and walnut strudel also earn praise, and a Wednesday steak night gets a mention. Close behind is the alpaca garden, where children feed the animals and one landlord fetched food for the kids to give them. Reviewers describe generous portions, good value and quick, friendly service even with a large group, plus a relaxed atmosphere that wasn't noisy or crowded. Several note the pub is dog friendly, and one says staff handed the kids colouring pencils and alpaca prints to colour in and stick on the wall. Complaints are scarce. One reviewer found the food "not too bad" while still liking the soup and the Eton mess, and another said the alpacas were uninterested in the feeding bags. One suggests making a reservation in advance, and a family reports returning a week after their first visit.

“A lovely welcome followed by a very delicious Sunday roast. The trio of meats (Beef, Chicken and Pork) was really nice and a good sized portion. Others had the lamb which they thoroughly enjoyed. The quality of the roast potatoes is still being talked about. Very accommodating with our dog. The staff were lovely, very attentive. Overall a huge thumbs up!”

“Had a fantastic Sunday roast with the family. I had the meat trio, each was perfectly cooked and the pork was very meaty and had great crackling. Staff and owners really friendly. Beautiful setting. We'll be back! 😎”

“Excellent sunday roast! We came with quite a large group but the food came out promptly with no complaints. Everything including the kids meals were good value, I had the Beef roast which was particularly good, drinks well priced and the service was really friendly and efficient. The kids loved the alpacas in the garden, the landlord even got some food for the kids to give them which kept them all happy. You’ll be hard pushed to find a better country pub for a nice family meal, we’ll be back!”

“A nice pub with welcoming owners/staff. Plenty of rooms to choose from: snugs, bar, dining room. Good wholesome homemade food. Tasty desserts. Wadsworth beers and others. Nice bottle of Malbec with our meal.”

“An absolute gem of a pub. Welcoming and efficient staff. Excellent tasty food. Generous portion sizes and very reasonably priced. Beer garden layout has a good-sized seating area without being squashed together. The alpacas were a delightful bonus. A dog friendly pub. Will definitely be a frequent visitor.”
