Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is what most reviewers return for, with one calling it the best value breakfast in town and a group who cycle over from Bath for breakfast and coffee. Staff draw repeated praise as friendly, fast and polite, and ordering from the app at the table is described as a plus. Reviewers also single out the old cinema architecture, a good atmosphere on a weekday, and a selection of beers and ciders including the new Christmas beers. Food is called very good by some and average by others, though one says nothing beats it for the price. The complaints are specific. One reviewer was charged twice through the app, then says a manager patronised them and could not confirm a refund. Another received halloumi burgers without sweet chilli sauce and gourmet burgers without onion rings, and says the ale gave them gutrot. One diner found the pub quiet like a library, and finished with cod bites from the fish bar across the road.

“Sudden impulse to wine and dine...in Spoons we trust...everything was fine, prices , food, service, but it was like a library and I had a light bite meal from the menu , but as I am a bit greedy , I couldn't resist a portion of cod bites from the fish bar across the road when I came out..moral is, order a main meal to fill me up ...love the spoons though”

“Lovely staff who were friendly and always ready to help. The food was very good, and we enjoyed it so much that we visited twice during our stay. The restaurant was lovely, with air conditioning, making it a comfortable place to eat. We couldn't complain at all and would happily recommend it.”

“Three of us cycle over from Bath every now and then for breakfast and coffee. Always very good, always great service. Staff are all great. Special mention to the Irish lady, I guess she is the manageress. Always friendly with all customers and her fellow staff, which helps create a relaxed atmosphere. Always working hard.”

“I came in with my partner for some food and a drink. we tried to order off the app and had some technical issues when coming to pay. it charged me twice and it still looked as if my order hadn't gone through. I asked my partner to check with staff and they said they hadn’t received and order from our table. however I had been charged twice. we decided to leave but I wanted to get some reassurance from staff about the 2 pending payments as this has never happened to me. I was referred to a manager who spoke to me as if I was a little girl and I do not understand a thing. She patronised me even though I was happy to leave I just wanted some info about the payments and the app issue. she was absolutely horrible for no reason. this was the first i’d spoken to her. she couldn’t guarantee me that id get my money back despite me no getting anything. I also just wanted to know if the order would go through later when we weren’t there. she had no answer. I really honestly don’t think I was rude at all. just came to her as normal and I felt as if she didn’t give me the time of day. I work in customer service so I know how to talk with customers and I have never heard someone speak to another like that just for asking a question regarding technical issues on the app. it was disheartening and really upsetting for me.”
