  “Cycled past this pub loads as it’s one of my locals, finally went in after seeing a promo video for the Micro Sardinian restaurant that serves pizza, pasta etc within - the chef, Tomas, comes across as a man who can cook (and he definitely can - food was amazing). Pub has a great vibe with good tunes, live music, pool table, games, sports on tv but not obtrusive. Cool decor, lots of dragon and fantasy memorabilia, wooden tables, quiet nooks and corners and a beer garden. Friendly service from bartenders who seem happy, loads of great beer on tap (including one alcohol free). The real stand out was the food from Micro Sardinia - absolute banger of a pizza. Delicious toppings, loads of seasonings, thin crispy base with chewy crust. Proper traditional style, this is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten. I will definitely be back for the pasta menu and try the sides. There was a bit of a wait for the food to come out which they warned us when we placed the order as the kitchen was busy - this is great news and I hope the wait is always long as it means the restaurant stays open!! I saw some other dishes come out, all looked amazing, clean plates everywhere. 100% recommend. Vegan and vegetarian options too. We had the Proper Vegan which had a lovely generous amount of roasted veg on, and the margarita. Both were exceptional. Get yourself down there”

  “The new Italian food at the stillage is really good. The volcano pizza was one of the best I've ever had, and I love a pizza! I had a bit of my wife's pasta and that was also really tasty, I would highly recommend supporting this independent kitchen. The pub is always a winner for good drinks and atmosphere, well worth a visit in it's own right.”

  “Disappointing experience as a female customer. On Saturday night I was approached by a member of staff while at the bar. He made a comment on the female friend I was with, saying I should tell her to “smile more”. Unacceptable in general but especially coming from a member of staff. I expressed my disappointment and as I was about to leave the premises, I was approached by another member of staff who asked me if I was trying to cause troubles. The irony of this happening while the pub had a women weekender on as well as a 20% discount on food to “celebrate women” is not lost on me.”

  “Haven't been to the stillage for a while stopped in for one after work. Didn't realise they have a new food menu which I might give a go if I stop in again next week. Some familiar faces behind the bar and staff have always been really welcoming and a good crack for banter.”

  “The atmosphere was nice and the staff we interacted with were lovely. But we went for a Sunday a roast and that is what this review is based on. I really don't want to be cruel of overly critical but I'm saying this as genuine feedback. The Sunday Roast was absolutely awful. I had the vegan option. It was not a wellington and not a Sunday Roast. If you're going to offer a vegan roast you should offer vegan parsnips at the very least. The meat eaters at the table were not impressed with theirs either. Half a whole chicken plonked on a plate does not equate to a decent Sunday Roast. Either the chef has never experienced the pleasure of a good British Sunday Roast or someone needs to sit them down and have a serious talk. For an extra £3/£4 you can get a truly exceptional roast at the lock up, just up the road.”

  “Amazing pizza! Didn’t manage to get a photo beforehand because the pizza was so delightful we ate it instantly. Great service at the pub and Sardinia Micro Continent. 10/10 would recommend!”

  “One of the best roasts i’ve had in Bristol for while, especially in terms of value for money. The beef was cooked perfectly and all of the veg was seasoned nicely. Yorkshire and potatoes were on point. The gravy was full of flavour, and enough on the plate that there was no need to ask for extra. We came as a large group and the staff were very accommodating. The food came out promptly and no one was waiting too long for theirs, considering we were such a large table. Thoroughly recommended the Stillage to put on your list of roasts to try in Bristol!”
