Customer Review Summary

The thali platters draw the most consistent praise, with reviewers repeatedly citing the meat thali and vegetarian thali for their variety of small, well-portioned curries, alongside the wider "Indian Summer Experience" tasting menu of sharing starters like chicken pakora and onion bhaji. Cocktails come up again and again too, from a lychee fizz to well-mixed rounds described as easy to drink, and desserts such as a white chocolate and pistachio mousse and a birthday cake brought out with the team singing get singled out. Service is described repeatedly as attentive and warm, with staff offering gestures like a complimentary mocktail or a beer during a kitchen delay. One dissenting reviewer, a self-described food taster, found the cooking closer to English-palate Indian food, citing an overly salty coconut chutney, a thin sambar, small yogurt portions and a disappointing mango lassi, though they noted a soft dosa was remade crisp on request and called service good regardless. Several parties mention returning after events like birthdays, with the restaurant repacking leftover cake and reconfirming reserved tables in advance.

“I had a wonderful experience at Indian Summer. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the korma, which was rich, flavourful and perfectly cooked. The thali was also excellent and a great way to try several different dishes. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. There was a little wait between the starter and the main course because they were serving a large table, but one of the waiters kindly offered a beer, which was a very thoughtful gesture. Great food, lovely service and a warm atmosphere. I would definitely come back!”

“My wife and I visited Indian Summer in Brighton on a recent weekend, where we were celebrating my wife's birthday, and we were absolutely delighted with our experience. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. The staff were especially courteous, friendly, and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. A special mention goes to Scott, who went above and beyond to make the occasion even more special. He very kindly offered my wife a complimentary mocktail to help us celebrate her birthday, which was a thoughtful gesture that we truly appreciated. Scott's warm hospitality really made us feel at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had a wonderful evening. We will definitely be visiting Indian Summer again the next time we're in Brighton. Highly recommended!”

“Booked a table for eight to celebrate my birthday will my family. The restaurant manager has already been helpful in letting me choose a table in advance for the event. It was fab. Food excellent, carnivores and vegetarians fully catered for. The staff from my experience are excellent and helpful. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant at all.”

“Best Indian food in Brighton! I've been to Indian Summer twice now and I've absolutely loved ever dish I've had there. I've spent years traveling through Asia and have lived in India - and I would go so far as to say it's the best Indian food I've had outside of India. Everyone who works there is also really friendly - a real friendliness not faking it for tips like you find elsewhere. It's also a great restaurant with a great vibe. We were the first people in the restaurant (we did an early First Table booking) and even so there was a great atmosphere with staff who chatted to us and a really cool and funky restaurant. If you're looking for a fantastic Indian food experience then look no further.”
