Quick info
About Dosa Kingdom
Dosa Kingdom is a South Indian restaurant at 7 Boundary Rd on the Hove seafront, where the kitchen blends Sri Lankan and South Indian dishes. Dosas arrive with chutneys and sambar, and the chicken masala dosa is on the menu for those who want meat. The South Indian thali comes with rasam and sambar, so it works as a full meal on one tray. Veg and chicken samosas are available as starters. The restaurant allows BYO, so diners can bring their own drinks to have with the food, which suits groups sharing several plates. Bus stops are a couple of minutes' walk away.

Customer Review Summary
Thalis draw the most praise, from a lamb thali with plenty of food in it to a hearty south Indian thali whose rassam and sambar one reviewer says match what they ate in India. Dosas come close behind, including crispy ones served with chutneys and sambar, a spicy green chilli dosa called very spicy but very tasty, and a chicken masala dosa. Samosas are another recurring order, with veg samosa, chicken samosa and samosa chaat all named, and one diner calls the chaat an explosion of tastes and textures. Reviewers describe friendly, polite staff and a relaxed, comfortable room, and several call the prices decent for the portions. The main reservation comes from one reviewer who found the place very casual with a homemade feel, saying it needs a few refinements, though the same person found service quick and the food great. One diner took leftovers home that still tasted good the next day.

“Wow, amazing place, best dosa's & thali I had in a long time. The Lamb thali was fab and plenty of food in it. Boyfriend had the spicy dosa with green chilli very spicy but very tasty. And to be fair if that wasnt enough the price is so good, that I think as a treat even with a smaller budget you can definitely eat here. Amazing food, great price and relaxing atmosphere.”

“Good restaurant, however it has quite a "homemade" feel to it. It is a unique experience, and definitely something to try, but a few refinements should be made to progress to a 5 star experience. Service was quick, and the food was great, but it's very casual. Would recommend if you want some unique dishes. 👍”
