About Manju's
Manju's is an Indian restaurant in Brighton at 6 Trafalgar St, serving Gujarati sharing plates from a fully vegetarian menu. Founder Manjula Patel, who is 89, still cooks her family recipes in the kitchen every day, so the food comes straight from one household's cooking. The restaurant is family-run, and relatives, including the chef's sons, host front of house. The team explains each dish as it reaches the table, which helps first-timers find their way around Gujarati cooking. Groups can order across the menu and share. Mango lassi and kulfi are on the menu, and the drinks list covers local beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. A brunch thali is also served. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the vegetarian Gujarati sharing plates, with several groups of four ordering the entire menu and calling dish after dish delicious, full of complex flavours and textures. Meat eaters repeatedly say they do not miss meat, and one describes the spice as just right without feeling heavy. Diners set the cooking apart from the usual British Indian meal, with one calling it a whole higher level. Close behind are the mango lassi and a creamy kulfi, and one regular singles out a new brunch thali. Another mentions a dish with pomegranate seeds that tasted good and fit a calorie goal. The family run feel comes up often, with three generations working at weekends and hosts who share the history of the restaurant. One reviewer rates the local beers, wine and cocktails as good quality. Several describe servers talking them through each dish as it arrived, and one was honoured to meet the founder herself.

“Back at our absolute favourite family run spot, Manju’s ~ Brighton. This visit was extra special trying their incredible new brunch thali. As always, Jaymin and Naimesh were excellent hosts out front and knowing that their mum, the legendary chef Manjus is behind these flawless Gujarati flavours makes it even more magical. Pure home cooked comfort food at its very best. Just when you think it can’t get any better…. Thank you guys, can’t wait for our next visit. Jason xx”

“I was tracking my calories on my lunch break when an app suggested this place. It scans my plate photos to count calories. This dish with pomegranate seeds fit my goal perfectly and tasted good. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere.”

“I have been wanting to go to experience Manju’s food for a very long time and we were absolutely blown away! Delicious Gujerarti vegetarian sharing plates, delicious mango lassi (wines, beers & spirits also available) and a creamy kulfi (recipe passed through generations of Manju’s family. Jamie and Nic (Manju’s sons) were great hosts, talking us through each dish as they were served, and I was very humbled and honoured to meet Manju herself - what a wonderfully inspirational woman; and thank you to Dee (Nic’s wife) for the delicious food too 🙏🏻”

“Loved this place so much!! Usually I don’t really care about atmosphere, however it was quite nice. The food was amazing all vegetarian but had a great amount of protein, and the servers told us about each dish as it was served. 10/10 would recommend if you like to share and split food with friends. :)”
