About Dancing Jug (Southbourne)
Dancing Jug is a bar on Southbourne Grove in Bournemouth, set in the old Lloyds bank building at number 2. A secret garden stays in use all year, and in winter it has private grottos. Cocktails are a main focus of the drinks side, with the servers recommending and making them. The food menu includes pizza, lasagna and steak, and weekly food promotions change what is on offer. Customer Review Summary
Bottomless brunch is what most reviewers come for, and the praise centres on drinks that keep flowing, with servers who kept cocktails topped up and bartenders praised for inventive recommendations. Food gets a lighter mention, with lasagna, pan fried salmon and a quickly delivered pizza called lovely or nice. Quiet Sunday sessions drew the warmest comments about service. The complaints are specific. One diner waited around 20 minutes between rounds and found the music too loud to talk over. Another reported a long wait for food, though cocktails kept arriving, and a few mention too few staff or slow service. A steak that was half gristle and a latte that never came left one visitor calling the atmosphere flat with only a few people in. A returning reviewer also said a change of management made the room feel less welcoming to locals. Even so, one brunch group closed by saying they could not wait to return for another.

“We arrived at around 8pm and were seated for the bottomless brunch. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Firstly, the music was far too loud for a restaurant type setting. It was impossible to have a conversation or even hear the staff properly throughout the evening. The biggest issue, however, was the service. The wait times between cocktails were unacceptable. On multiple occasions, both of us had finished our drinks and then waited around 20 minutes just to be asked if we wanted another one. Even after ordering, it often took close to 10 minutes for two cocktails to arrive. I’ve been to many bottomless brunches before and have never experienced service this slow. It genuinely felt as though the delays were designed to limit the number of drinks customers could have during the allotted time. The only way we managed to get served was by actively searching for our waitress ourselves; otherwise, I’m convinced we would have received very few drinks. Overall, this was a shocking experience and certainly not worth the money we paid. The combination of excessively loud music and incredibly slow drink service completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. I would not recommend the bottomless brunch based on this experience.”

“Tess was wholeheartedly the greatest server and bartender i’ve ever had. From her attention to detail in my drinks to the inventiveness showed on recommending cocktails, i couldn't recommend going there enough solely because of her. Shes truly an amazing human being and i cant recommend the dancing jug southbourne enough.”
