Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer, with several praising a good selection on tap, and the large outdoor seating and beer garden come up alongside it. Close behind are a bottomless brunch with cocktails that one diner calls great value, a lunchtime special, and a separate sports barn with its own bar in the courtyard. One parent says staff ensured there was no cross contamination for a celiac daughter. Staff draw split verdicts. Several call them friendly, quick and helpful, while others describe slow, indifferent, rude service, a lager shandy that was not mixed properly, and one account of staff arguing and complaining about their managers within earshot of customers. Others mention lots of smokers in the outside seating area and a bar that had run out of bitter on Good Friday for the whole Easter weekend. Food gets mixed notes too: one table waited far longer than quoted and received two avocado salads without avocado, though the waiter quickly chopped one up and put it in the salad.

“Fantastic old pub with indoor and outta seating. Very friendly staff good choice on drinks. We didn't have food but saw several dishes come out that looked great. Lunchtime special til 16.00 which was amazing value”

“Indifferent and sloppy service, quite rude actually. Lots of smokers in outside seating area. Will not come here again. Would have left, but was too tired to look for another place. Don't bother coming here. Thanks for your offer of discussion. I think I said it all above. Also, I have hearing loss, so a phone call isn't ideal.”

“Brilliant little pub in the heart of the town centre of Christchurch. Would highly recommend if your looking for a quiet pint or some outstanding food. Also if your a sports fan. They have a sports barn in the courtyard with a bar. You will also be greeted with some lovely staff, with friendly faces that are always looking to make you have the best experience there.”

“Very disappointing experience at Ye Olde George Inn. The staff come across as lazy and rude, often talking back to customers instead of helping them. There was constant arguing amongst the staff, which created a really uncomfortable atmosphere. The management clearly doesn’t seem to care about what goes on in the pub. The tall male manager with glasses regularly talks down to customers and is generally unpleasant and unprofessional. The female manager with brown hair also seemed more interested in smoking or texting on her phone than actually serving customers. She was constantly talking about wanting to move elsewhere rather than focusing on the pub. She also made negative comments about other members of staff in front of customers, which was very unprofessional and gave a bad impression of the workplace. To make things worse, staff were openly complaining about both managers while customers could hear everything. The pub itself is very small and definitely not worth the money they charge. Drinks and food are overpriced for the poor service and atmosphere provided. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend spending your money here”
