About Strawbury Duck
Strawbury Duck is a gastropub with guest rooms on Overshores Rd in Bolton, near Entwistle Reservoir and its woodland walks. Overnight stays come with free breakfast, and the rooms have a tea station. The draught beer selection includes a flight of three bitters, and the menu lists lamb shoulder as the Sunday dinner lamb. An old typewriter sits among the pub decor, and dogs are welcome. Large groups can book ahead and pre-order their food. A train station nearby has trains to Manchester and Blackburn.

Customer Review Summary
Food draws most of the praise, with one diner calling the lamb shoulder sublime and the best they had tasted, and others describing a fantastic menu and delicious main courses. Groups get good mention: one party pre-ordered for 14 family members and every plate arrived together, while a large table that turned up early had tables moved for them. Beer drinkers enjoyed the three bitters flight, and an overnight guest liked the tea station. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, welcoming and helpful. The complaints centre on value: a Sunday leg of lamb came as three slices of meat on veg and mash, tasteless, chewy and swimming in gravy, and light bite sandwiches had thick bread that hid the fish finger and roast beef, with fries that seemed microwaved. One diner chose a table beside an old typewriter.

“My family and I come here often as we live close by and everything is exceptional every time. The food is always really nice and all the staff are so lovely and accommodating. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.”

“Visited for Sunday dinner. The place looks great and has a lovely location. I was expecting good food judging by the prices. Imagine my surprise when they brought it to my table and said not a single word. It was supposed to be leg of a lamb. I received a plate full of veg and mash...with 3 slices of meat that once resembled a lamb. But I thought to myself - it must be really good. You know, for the proce and all. Well, it was tasteless, chewy, gummy, swimming in gravy to cover it all up. I would not recommend eating here, unless you enjoy low quality food and poor customer service. It's an ok place to stop for a pint when you're on the walk. But that's all.”

“We received a warm welcome and were very impressed with the team's professionalism during drinks, dinner service and breakfast. A good choice of draught drinks are available and we enjoyed trying the 3 bitters flight, allowing us to find our favourite drink from the selection on offer. Rooms are well appointed for one night's stay with comfortable pillows and a good tea station selection.”

“Wonderful from start to finish. Attention to detail on booking and pre-ordering. Wonderful, quality main courses for 14 family members. All as expected, served together and each plate was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you, Strawbury Duck!”

“An amazing meal with my elderly mum today, was relatively quiet ( Thursday teatime). Lovely quirky pub in a beautiful area , roads very narrow though, we parked easily however if it were busier an allocated disabled bay would help in getting out of car with walking frame or wheelchair. Staff were so welcoming, attentive and helpful, wish I'd caught the lads name because he deserves the positive feedback!”
