About Flag Inn
Flag Inn is a real ale pub on Arnold Rd in Bolton, with more than five hand-pulled ales on at a time, mostly from small breweries. Other beers are on tap alongside them. Sky Sports and TNT Sports show in HD, and pool and darts give the bar games to play between rounds. Food comes from a pizza menu, with the pizzas served in cardboard boxes and a Yorkshire pudding wrap as another choice. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the beer, with hand pulled real ales from small breweries and a well kept pint singled out by several, alongside a friendly bar team and good seating outside. Close behind is the food, where one reviewer calls the Yorkshire pudding wrap outstanding and good value, and another says a family birthday meal was made special by accommodating staff. Atmosphere draws mixed comments, described as lively and friendly on a busy Saturday but dead on quieter visits. The complaints are about food and the manager. Several say the menu has shrunk to pizza since the refurbishment, served in cardboard boxes, and one calls the pizza the worst ever. Another describes a freezing, empty pub where the bartender carried a box of frozen pizzas past the table, and calls the lager pricey. Two reviewers report rude treatment, one from the manager who huffed over cooking an order and one from a bar worker. The same reviewer who criticised the manager still found the bar staff friendly enough to pull a pint.

“Wow, what has happened to this place?! We came here last year before our booking at The last drop. We had a lovely meal and it was a great atmosphere. It was really reasonably priced as well. Came here yesterday, before the Last drop again, was really looking forward to it.. Can't believe how disappointing it was. We walked in and it was absolutely dead. Asked for a food menu and they said they only do pizza now.. Which isn't what we had in mind. Sat down and it was absolutely freezing in there! Sat with my coat and scarf on. We didn't plan on staying long, due to the food situation but we'd already bought a drink. £12.20 for 2 pints of lager 😩. To sit in a freezing cold pub with absolutely no atmosphere! Whilst we were in there, the guy on the bar walked past us with a big box of frozen pizzas 🤣 over £10 you pay for these, more expensive than my local, authentic Italian restaurant! This really is an example of how to get absolutely everything wrong in a pub! We went to the drop inn pub down the road. Absolutely lovely place. £9.40 for 2 pints and £9.50 for a hot roast beef sandwich, served with a side of roast potatoes and gravy. You really could do with taking some tips from them.”
