About Attic | Brewery & Taproom
Attic | Brewery & Taproom is a bar and brewery on Mary Vale Rd in Stirchley, Birmingham, right next to Bournville train station. It began in an attic in Kings Heath and has grown into the largest independent brewery in the West Midlands, and it is still owner-operated and self-funded. The beers are brewed onsite, and the range covers ales, lagers and stouts, with Attic Intuition as the session IPA. Ciders and other drinks are poured alongside them. A brewery tour is on offer and includes a tasting of four beers, among them Intuition and the Tuck Shop sour. The tasting also features a Chocolate Coconut Stout made in collaboration with Tap Social. Pizza from Deathrow Pizza is served on site.

Customer Review Summary
Attic Intuition, a session IPA, is the beer reviewers name most, with two calling it a favourite and one saying it is perfect for summer. Pizza from the on-site stall comes close behind, described as awesome and excellent, and as the best one reviewer has had outside Italy. Diners also praise the wide choice of lagers, ales, ciders and stouts, including fun flavours like caramel, honeycomb and chocolate. Friendly staff, plenty of tables inside and outdoors, a big TV for sport, and a welcome for families and dogs come up too, along with the spot's position right by the train station. The recurring complaint is cost. Two reviewers call the beers a tad expensive, though another finds the pint price justified and a third mentions good prices. Two reviewers took the brewery tour, which ended with a tasting of four beers: Intuition, Tuck Shop sour, Pilsner and a Chocolate Coconut Stout collaboration.

“Wonderful brewery tour with Catherine. So informative and happy to answer all questions. Lovely chance to try four beers; Intuition, Tuck Shop, Pilsner and collab with Tap Social Chocolate Coconut Stout. Would highly recommend booking on to the brewery tour.”

“Great brewery & taproom hidden away off Maryvale Rd & only 1 minute from Bournville train station! Fab beers tasted on the brewery tour with Catherine - Pilsner, Intuition, Tuck Shop sour & a Stout Collab with Tap Social (Chocolate & Coconut 😋)”

“Ive been to some great brewery taproom around the world... this amongst the best. Great vibe, bench seating, an incredible pizza bar (by Deathrow Pizza... Best I've had outside Italy)... and Attic beers are superb. Attic Intuition is my ne favourite session IPA, perfect for summer. If I lived anywhere near here, I'd spend a lot of time here... full of happy people and lovely chat, just like most places that understand great beer. Love it”

“Born in South Birmingham and built on hard graft, creativity and community. What started in an attic in Kings Heath has grown into the largest independent brewery in the West Midlands. We’re still owner-operated, still self-funded and still grounded in our community. Join us at our Taproom on Mary Vale Road in Stirchley or The Barrel Store in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. We brew a wide range of modern craft beer right here in Birmingham, from crisp lagers and easy-drinking pale ales to IPAs, cask beer and alcohol-free options. Whether you’re looking for a fresh pint, somewhere to spend an afternoon with friends, a brewery tour or simply want to discover more locally brewed beer, you’ll find it at Attic.”
