Customer Review Summary
Overnight stays are what reviewers raise most, led by spacious, comfortable rooms with a big bed, plenty of hot water and a good shower. One bride describes a pre-bridal suite with a walk-in shower, separate bath and a hamper of face masks, toiletries and snacks, with breakfast delivered to the room in hampers on the wedding morning. One worker away from home calls the room quiet and fresh, and breakfast in the bar area comes with plenty of options. Close behind is the food: fish and chips described as about the best one diner has tasted, pies a regular traveller swears by, a pizza and pint, and Sunday lunch. One reviewer finds the menu a bit limited. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming. The one detailed complaint is that a dart board beside the dining area brought loud, foul language during a meal, and the manager seemed uninterested when the diner complained. One reviewer advises booking ahead because the pub gets busy. A couple with three dogs were welcomed in the dining area.

“I'm not very good at reviews, but had a Sunday lunch here recently with an elderly relative for the first time and enjoyed it immensely! - I mixed up the booking time (yes my fault) but Katie had it all sorted with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble, and I would like to thank Katie once more for all-round excellence. I hear the rooms are very nice, too! Best wishes and I'll return on my way back from The Tramway Museum at Crich. Thanks once again, Paul M Alfreton.”

“Honestly one of the best places I have stayed in while working away from home. The staff were more than accommodating to anything I needed, all done with a friendly welcoming smile. The room smelt fresh and clean and the bed is super comfortable! Surprisingly quiet of a night considering its on a semi main road. Honestly couldnt fault the canal inn at all and should i be working in the area again I will be choosing here first. Almost forgot to say how lovely the food was im so picky with the food I eat and the staff really went all out on accommodating my requests.”

“First time I stayed at the Canal Inn on Saturday 29th August for 1 night B&B .cracking location. Lovely rooms , great food , very friendly staff, especially if you take time to engage. Will definitely be back again.”

“Our overnight stay at the Canal Inn while on a walking holiday was a real surprise. We had a spacious nicely furnished comfortable room, with plenty of hot water and a good shower. The staff were absolutely superb, friendly and welcoming, and just what we needed after a long day’s walking. We would happily stay here again on a holiday break in the area.”
