About Stock Kitchen & Bar
Stock Kitchen & Bar is an Irish restaurant in Belfast, set above St. George's Market with a balcony that looks over the market stalls. The kitchen cooks with local suppliers and some of the market stall traders. Market fish is served whole on the bone, with Dover sole and John Dory among the options, and comes with lemon and chips. A seafood casserole brings together hake or cod, monkfish, mussels and langoustines. Breakfast is served as well, including French toast with berries and cream. Indoors, the restaurant has a dining room and a bar area, with wine by the glass on offer.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the market fish served whole on the bone, with Dover sole and John Dory called tender and fresh, served with real chips and a squeeze of grilled lemon. Close behind are the seafood casserole with monkfish, mussels and langoustines, though one warns of shells, and the crubeens, pig trotters in a crispy shell. Sea bream and a french toast with berries and cream also draw praise. The main complaint is slow service: one diner had to wave down a server after being forgotten on the balcony, and another found staff overwhelmed, though servers are called friendly. One thought a whole fish too expensive, and two noted crab missing from the orzo and the casserole. Several still describe the balcony view of the market, watching people below as the plates arrive.

“We stopped in for breakfast and enjoyed everything. The food was great, service very good and it was fun to look down and people watch at the market.”

“Absolutely delicious meal - sea breem accompanied by interesting mix of vegetables which were beautifully cooked. and REAL chips. Good range of wine by the glass. Rather than have a dessert we opted for a cocktail (Expresso Martini) iin the relaxing bar area. There were few other customers which meant that the place lacked a bit of atmosphere but the staff were dly and chatty which was good.”

“We had our wedding here and it was the best decision we ever made. The staff and food was absolutely outstanding. It is a hidden gem in the heart of Belfast with plenty of character and charm. A special mention to Katie & Alistair for going the extra mile to make everything perfect for our big day they are so down to earth and are fantastic at organising. I would give more stars if I could! Great memories made and more to come as I definitely will be back. Melissa & Andrew”

“Came here for a late lunch mid-afternoon, just as the market was closing. The first floor balcony overlooking the market was lovely, but we soon learnt that it was easy to be forgotten there. After about 20 minutes I had to wave at a server inside before anyone would come to take a drinks order. Ordered the food when the drinks arrived, and then another long wait. Maybe it was a staff changeover or they were taking a break after the lunchtime peak, but everything was just too slow. Saying that, the servers were really friendly and helpful and the food was very good. The bar and indoor seating areas are also very nicely appointed. We paid the included service charge but maybe we shouldn’t have. Hoping for a better experience next time.”
