About The Gasworks
The Gasworks is an Italian restaurant on Cromac Place in Belfast, run as a hotel dining room that stays open to non-residents, so anyone can come in for lunch or an evening meal. Breakfast is served alongside an à la carte menu that covers Italian classics and more contemporary plates, among them lamb with red wine sauce, calamari, and focaccia with dried tomatoes. The kitchen runs daily, and reservations are recommended. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance serves visitors with mobility needs, while high chairs make the room workable for families with young children. Outdoor seating gives the option of dining outside.

Customer Review Summary
Food carries the strongest praise, led by the lamb, described as tender and lightly seasoned with a red wine sauce, though that same diner found the portion poor. Close behind sit the calamari, focaccia with dried tomatoes and salad one table called tasty, while returning work travellers rate the breakfast and the a la carte. Several describe the industrial interior, the old building preserved with modern elements, as lively and welcoming, and point to evening cocktails and a relaxed brunch, with one lunch guest praising a riverside table looking onto the Lagan. Refurbishment dominates the complaints: two reviewers arrived to find the restaurant closed and the bar reduced to a hole in the wall in a corridor, one advising others to stay away until the work is done, another reporting stained carpets, construction noise from early morning to late, and no reply to concerns raised. One lunch visit stalled at a roped-off dining room with no direction and pleasant but slow service. Warmer accounts note colouring pages and crayons brought out for children.

“Hotel restaurant. Very nice food - we had salad, calamari, focaccia & dried tomatoes. Everything tasty. Special thanks and greetings to my country fellow Dagmar who’s been working in the restaurant for 16 years and it feels like she joined yesterday- super positive and enthusiastic, makes everyone feel welcomed. Would normally give 4 and the fifth star is for you, Dagmar🙏”

“An amazing place with a unique industrial charm! The interior design is simply incredible — they have preserved the spirit of the old building by adding modern elements. The atmosphere is very lively and welcoming. Perfect for an evening cocktail with friends, or for a relaxing brunch. I will definitely come back here again!”

“Really disappointed with this hotel for the money we paid. The room was not luxurious as advertised it was dirty with very stained carpets. They failed to inform us they were doing construction work which went on from early morning till late. If we knew we wouldn’t have booked. The view was a wasteland and not nice at all to look at. The bar and restaurant were closed so couldn’t use. I raised my concerns but had no response!”

“The hotel is under huge refurbishment and should not be open right now - or should be trading with huge discounts on rooms. Restaurant is closed and the bar was a hole in the wall in the main corridor. I’m annoyed I missed this which has been flagged by others in reviews. I insisted on having my booking cut to one night when I arrived as this is a shabby experience - I advise you to stay away until they are properly ready for guests again.”
