About The Moat House Inn
The Moat House Inn is a pub on Birmingham Rd in Alcester, with an older building at the front and an extension at the rear that opens onto a patio. Pizzas come from a wood fired pizza oven, including a honey nduja pizza made with nduja, ricotta and hot honey. The menu also lists Pil Pil Prawns, and a Brookie sits among the desserts. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available for guests with different dietary needs. A tee pee on the patio can be booked for events, which gives parties a separate space of their own. For larger gatherings, the Gun Room can be hired for private parties.

Customer Review Summary
Honey nduja pizza from the wood fired oven is the dish reviewers raise most, served with ricotta and hot honey in one account and with truffle fries in another. Close behind are the Pil Pil prawns and a cod special with aubergine and fondant style potatoes, which one diner called perfect. Servers are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive, and the terrace, back garden and tee pee suit celebrations, with dogs and children welcome. One group hired the Gun Room for a party and found vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. The main complaint is the discretionary service charge added automatically. One couple said it came without notice and tarnished their anniversary meal, where dessert was also mediocre, while another reviewer noted a server pointing out it was already included. One group also noted early confusion over when food was wanted. One server went out in a thunderstorm to shelter a diner under an umbrella.

“Very nice and tastey food and the servers were really lovely. Good disabled toilets. One of the servers helped us get back to our car and cover my bother with a umbrella as it had started to thunderstorm and he had shorts on with hoodie. The lovely server who helped came out in the ran to cover my brother with the umbrella was only wearing a hoodie herself. Exceptional service that we weren't expecting.”

“I visited this Venue with Work, for a Summer Social on a hot, weekend evening. The Food was great! Although, there was a little confusion at the start of the evening of when we wanted it (the Food)! We utilised both front and back outside spaces, which were lovely. The Venue is dog friendly as well and children are more than welcome!”

“Have not been here in 40 years and passed it many times. Greeted by the recently new GM Matt and seated at 4:30pm on a Saturday. The older quaint pud is still at the front and a lovely extension in the rear with wide doors open to a patio and tee pee (yes, a tee pee). Menu was varied and my wife and I chose 3 dishes to share…. Pil Pil Prawns, an Nduja pizza with ricotta and hot honey and their special today, cod with aubergine and fondant style potatoes. What can I say, everything was top notch, Matt was a delight as was Shannon during service. Food was very tasty, but a special shout out to the person cooking the cod, it was perfect. We will be back for sure.”

“Adam was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He was so friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our meal. Nothing was too much trouble, and his service really made our experience even more enjoyable. A real credit to the team—we’ll definitely be back because of Adam!”

“We hired The Gun Room at The Moathouse for a joint 30th/60th Birthday Party for 30 guests of varying ages. Matt the Manager and his Staff couldn't do enough for us, very welcoming and professional, catered for our every need, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options were all made available to us. Lovely atmosphere and we were able to use the external garden area too. Background music was at the perfect volume to allow conversation to flow uninterrupted. Highly recommend. We will return. Thanks again to Matt and his Team 🧡”
