About 1803 NYC

1803 NYC is a Cajun-Creole restaurant, bar, and live music venue in New York, serving elevated food and drinks inside a space inspired by New Orleans's French Quarter. Much of its identity comes from that pairing of dining and entertainment, with a setting built around the feel of the French Quarter and a menu rooted in Cajun and Creole cooking. The Charbroiled Oysters lead the seafood side, while the Bar anchors the drinks program and the Perfect rounds out the popular mains. Live music runs on a regular schedule, giving the room a nightlife draw alongside its dining service. Reservations are advised for weekend evenings when the music and dining room are in full swing.

Customer Review Summary

1803 NYC draws reviewers in with its lively New Orleans atmosphere, live music, and cocktails, with several describing the vibe as fun and inviting. The charbroiled oysters come up repeatedly, praised for their flavorful sauce, though more than one reviewer notes the oyster meat is disappointingly small. The ribs earn mixed marks, described as tender and fall off the bone by some, while others find them underseasoned or slightly dry. The gumbo and jambalaya are singled out positively, and the bread pudding with butter pecan ice gets a strong nod. Service experiences vary widely. Several reviewers rave about friendly, attentive staff and great hospitality, but others describe cramped seating, a musky smell near the restroom, and an uncomfortable moment where a server hovered during payment. One reviewer mentions a manager questioning whether the bill was paid, calling it extremely rude. A few suggest making reservations since the place tends to be busy, and several recommend eating family style to try more dishes.

Great Creole restaurant with an awesome vibe! Came here on a weeknight. I made sure to make reservations ahead of time, since the restaurant tends to be busy. The place was crowded, but we got a table on the second floor right away. For appetizers, we ordered the Honey Chili Brussels Sprouts and the Cajun Shrimp Skewers. Both were delicious with a ton of flavor. 5/5 for appetizers. For my entree, I had the Cornmeal-crusted Black Sea Bass. It was also really good. The fish was seared perfectly, the vegetables and lemon butter sauce combined with it perfectly. 4.5/5 for entree. For dessert, we shared the Hummingbird cake. I enjoyed the cake filling, which was coffee flavor, more than the rest of the cake. 4/5 for dessert. I think next time I might order the Beignets or Bread Pudding. The atmosphere gets a 5/5 for me. And the service was very good. I think this is a great restaurant to experience the New Orleans vibe without leaving NYC.
