Quick info
About Eataly
Eataly is a bread-themed Italian market and restaurant in New York at 101 Liberty St, combining counters, restaurants, and cooking demos under one roof. Much of its format revolves around a gourmet grocery store, a pasta shop, and a pizza restaurant, supported by a bar, cafe, cooking classes, event space, and catering supply. The signature plate is Ravioli Piselli, and Bufalina Pizza anchors the pizza side, with Tiramisù listed among the mains. Because the space functions as both a market and a dining destination, visitors move between counters and sit-down areas throughout the day. Cooking demos and cooking classes run on site alongside the food and drink service.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers consistently praise the pasta and pizza, calling the pasta fresh and perfectly cooked and the pizza a standout with authentic, high-quality ingredients. La Pizza & La Pasta draws specific praise, and diners also highlight the pistachio croissant, fritto misto, bruschetta, gelate, and the calzone as memorable choices. Several describe the food as some of the best Italian they have had, with a marketplace atmosphere that blends dining and shopping. A recurring complaint is uneven service: one cashier is described as rude and disengaged, a supervisor scolded a table mid-drink without apology for a party setup, and another diner waited ten minutes for a takeaway pizza confirmation despite the order already being ready. High prices, a noisy and busy setting, and difficulty getting a table come up repeatedly. One reviewer notes a fish smell from the store area. Several suggest booking ahead, noting that reservations can secure a good view of the city.

“This spot is a gem! The pizza is the absolute standout—it’s so authentic and the ingredients are so fresh that it feels like a slice of Italy. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff does a great job maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Best of all, the service is incredibly quick and professional without ever feeling rushed. It’s the perfect place for a high-quality meal that doesn't keep you waiting. I’ll definitely be back!”

“Food was incredible, 5 star all round and great views of the 911 memorial. definitely a good stop if your in the area. I was also surprised that we didn’t need to book only down side was a fish smell that came from the store area but that isnt really something they could fix.”

“A school lunch tasted better. Another so so restaurant but not in a so so place. It’s not well planned or organized. My Asian guests were puzzled not on the concept but on the quality of food. Each dish was limo, sad, almost tasteless. I thought maybe dessert would save the meal. NOT. SADLY, one guess needed the loo. It’s not well delineated or marked. They threw up in a bag that luckily we had. A sad night with a very mediocre meal. One guess asked how do they keep all this food fresh. I said this is NYC not a third world city.”

“Love this location. It’s super convenient in the Financial District and offers a great food and grocery option. They usually have any items on sale, but this time they didn’t. They have two restaurants. I prefer La pizza & la pasta. The gelato is also delicious.”

“I absolutely love this place! The ambience is so upbeat! So may people walking around shopping or simply enjoying a glass of wine as they are shopping. The main issue I had it was that I couldn’t make up my mind on what to eat. I have been here so many times and yet, I always go through this. I ended up buying a pasta dish and sat by myself in a quieter area. I had the company of a tiny bird who seemed so out of place here, but nevertheless I truly enjoyed his company.”
