About Minster Inn
Minster Inn is a pub in York at 24 Marygate, opposite St Mary's in Bootham. The kitchen makes wood-fired pizza to go with cask ales and a range of beers on tap, including IPAs. The Diavola is one of the named pizzas, and regular pizzas are half price on Tuesday to Thursday afternoons, which suits a daytime visit midweek. The building has a small restaurant side and a bar side, plus a courtyard. The team brings drinks to the table and carries the card machine over for payment, and guests can run a tab over their meal. Dogs are welcome. An Airbnb occupies the floor above the pub.

Customer Review Summary
Pizza is what most reviewers praise, describing a thin, crispy base, generous toppings and flavour like the pizza they ate in Italy. Named pizzas include the Diavola, a ham and fig, the Italian Hog and the Italian, and one reviewer also mentions nachos and french fries with three cheeses in large portions. Beer comes close behind, with reviewers citing a great choice of IPAs and calling the Tim Taylor Boltmaker superb. A couple find the cask range small, pleasant but unremarkable, and one says there is nothing too exciting on tap. Another rates the pizza only a 6 out of 10, though they liked the beer and setting. One group seated on the small restaurant side had four loud diners nearby and was moved near the bar. Reviewers also describe a pretty courtyard, locals drinking alongside visitors, and friendly staff who greet newcomers. One diner recalls a waitress bringing the card machine to the table to settle up.

“Genuinely one of the best little spots for a nice drink and food. The courtyard was pretty and the atmosphere felt like coming into your local even as an out of towner.”

“Great pub just a short walk away from all the hustle and bustle. Tristan was great behind the bar and very friendly. We stayed in the Airbnb above the pub and it was perfect. Easy access to the train station as well as the city centre. Nothing too exciting on tap but good selection of pizzas on the menu. Will definitely be back next time I'm in York.”

“Another classic must visit York pub. Took advantage of the any regular pizza 50% off offer(Tuesday-Thur 12-4pm). We had the Diavola and a ham/fig pizza. Great value, tasty but wouldn't be as enthusiastic as other reviewers. The pizza would be a 6 out of 10 me. The beer quality and setting make the place. Great service we ran up a tab with our meals. 2 pizza, 2 and half pints for £27 circa 1200 THB so brilliant value. Tim Taylor Boltmaker was superb .”
