Quick info
About Tafarn Y Fic
Tafarn Y Fic is a pub at 80 Bangor St in Y Felinheli, with rear views over the Menai Strait. The kitchen serves Thai dishes, including pad thai and red duck curry with jasmine rice, and pork spring rolls come as a starter. The food is spicy, and dishes can be ordered mild on request. At the bar, Guinness is on tap alongside two rotating cask beers, often sourced from local breweries, and Thai whiskey is also on the drinks list. Multiple large TVs show sports, so the pub doubles as a sports bar for match days, and it serves pizzas too. Local bus routes run to the pub.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers mostly come for authentic Thai cooking, with the grilled beef named most often, alongside pad Thai, lamb massaman, prawn fried rice, Tom Yum soup, crispy chicken wings and a red duck curry with jasmine rice. A Singaporean diner says the kitchen stays true to its chilli and spices, and another notes everything is spicy but can be made mild. Close behind, the staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and one reviewer liked the beer and the Thai whiskey. One group expecting a Thai restaurant found a sports bar serving pizzas and enjoyed every dish ordered. The caveats are pacing and one failed takeaway. On a busy Saturday, one diner waited a while for the pork spring rolls, and again for plates to be cleared and the main served, though both arrived piping hot and tasty. Another found the tofu pad Thai takeaway inedible and threw it away, then was told only that feedback would be passed to the kitchen, with no apology, refund or replacement offered.

“Location was listed (Google Maps search) as a Thai Restaurant (closed 3 years ago!) but on arrival we found it to be a sports bar that served pizzas. It turned out well as we enjoyed every one ordered.”

“Why have I not been here before? Visited on a busy Saturday evening. Attentive service and orders taken fairly swiftly. It did take a little bit of time for the starter to appear (pork spring rolls), but when it did it was piping hot and very tasty. Again, it took a while for the plates to be cleared away and then for the main to be served (Red Duck Curry & Jasmine Rice) but again, it was delicious. I will be coming here again.”

“As a Singaporean from a home of multi-ethnic crusine, this is definitely an authentic thai food in Wales. Finally, a place that still kept true to their chilli & spices. Super good.”

“Really disappointed with the food andservice. Ordered two Tofu pad Thai and it was honestly the worst takeaway I've tasted. I'm a real fatty and I actually threw the whole thing in the bin, may aswel have rolled up £30 and thrown it out the window. I'm still deciding on whether we're more disappointed with the food or the answer we had when we called up to complain "your feedback will be passed onto the kitchen" No apology, no offer to refund or exchange the dish (at this point I hadn't binned it) Really gutted as we were hoping this was gonna to be a real gem of a place. Luckily I had a pizza In the fridge.”
