About The Benllech
On Beach Rd in Tyn Y Gongl, The Benllech is a pub and restaurant with a beer garden looking out over the sea. The kitchen runs to 57 dishes, with fish and chips, burgers and chips, and a pie of the day among the regulars, and Sunday brings roast dinners with turkey or lamb, mash, Yorkshire puddings, and vegetables. Staff take orders at the table rather than at a counter, and reservations are recommended, with table booking available by phone during busy periods. Dogs are welcome both inside the pub and in a separate bar area, and the step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs. A quiz night runs on site, and the beer garden gives outdoor dining space beyond the main room. Parking at the pub itself is limited, though an additional car park sits across the road for those driving in.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast dinner draws the most consistent praise, with reviewers describing a Turkey roast, a lamb roast "cooked to perfection" with rosemary and a red wine jus, and even vegetarian roasts that satisfied a diner not easily pleased. Close behind, several single out the pies, recommending "the pie of the day," alongside burgers that split opinion, some finding them fresh and well seasoned, others describing chicken burgers as overcooked and dry. A few also mention garlic mushrooms and mussels remade in a vegan wine and cream sauce for a diner's dairy intolerance. Service earns repeated comment: multiple diners describe mixed-up orders, including a wrongly delivered roast and a burger that arrived 10 to 15 minutes late, confusion over table numbers, and staff overcharging for drinks, which more than one attributes to newer staff still learning the job. One reviewer reports finding a hair in their fish and chips. A few also note a small, hard-to-turn car park and drink prices some called steep, including six pounds for a Guinness. Despite this, several describe staff apologizing and correcting mistakes, such as swapping a wrongly served roast for the requested burger and chips.

“Always stop here for Sunday lunch when on the island. Great value excellent food and drink. Very dog friendly too. Outside area is also comfortable, especially when the sun is shining. Inside is clean and tidy. Parking on site is restricted but there's a large car park over the road for around £3.”
