Customer Review Summary
Lamb pie draws the most mentions, with one reviewer calling the dragon pie filling with great lamb and another calling a minted lamb pie home cooked and very tasty. Seafood chowder, described as brimming with fish, comes close behind, and the haddock and chips earn praise for light, crispy batter and fluffy chips. Others single out the mussels, a seafood linguine with salmon, prawns and mussels, scallops, a duck special and slow cooked beef, with portions called generous. Reviewers also like the ale selection, the outdoor seating with views over the bay, the dog friendliness, live music and a quiz night, and they describe the staff as lovely and attentive. The recurring caveat is speed on busy evenings. One diner found ordering took a bit long, and another waited a little while for the fish and chips. Both put it down to the crowd, and the second was reassured the food was on its way. That diner finished with sticky toffee pudding and custard.

“When I tell you that I will say this was the best meal I have ever had. I am not joking. It all started when I arrived at around 6:15 in the evening, I was greeted with a smile the second I walked in the door and when I asked for a table for one they were straight on this and took me to a table, straight away they asked would I like a drink. Which was delivered very promptly: Bitter. It was very tasty, clean lines, and served with a great smile. Which is all great so far. I gazed over the menu and I asked about the fish special and I was told in detail about it and I did decide in the end the Haddock and Chips. Whilst sat down the pub I noticed it was very busy especially for a tuesday evening but that made it so much more enjoyable! Hearing conversation made the atmosphere so pleasant and special! When taking my order the lady was very attentive and made sure if i was okay for drinks. I was a little worried at first because it did take a little while to come out but I was reassured it was on its way. When It came out, the smell was absolutely gorgeous, everything was cooked to order and nothing was cold. The Fish was cooked perfectly in the most light, crispy, and fresh batter I have EVER had, the fish was flakey and tender with absolutely no soggy parts. It paired perfect with the chips which were also just divine, crispy and fluffy! The Tartar sauce and Mushy Peas were the perfect accompaniment and so fresh. The Bitter was the absolute perfect accompaniment to The Best Fish and Chips & Customer Service, I have ever had. The Sticky Toffee Pudding to finish was absolutely tremendous and so flavourful especially with the custard. A true credit to the dish. The Best Meal & Service I have EVER received!”

“We did not stay for food but it looked great. It was a very warm day, so the outdoor seating was fantastic with our drinks. The relaxed atmosphere and lovely chilled bay were great. Worth a spot of lunch i am sure and definitely worth stopping for a beer.”

“Stopped by as knew the area and I previously stopped at the other establishment near by but this time decided to try a good old pub classic. Lovely staff and great weather at time of visit so sat outside and enjoyed my fish and chips. No issues with seaguls but plenty of other nature visiting but not a bother. Fantastic views and great place if your stopping by for a drink or a meal or both.”
