About Tafarn Y Rhos
Tafarn Y Rhos is a pub with B&B rooms on Rhostrehwfa in Llangefni. Dogs are allowed in the bedrooms, so guests travelling with a pet can stay on site, and about three tables in the pub are set aside for dogs. The kitchen serves bar meals and pub food, including steak pie and fish and chips made with home made chips. The Sunday roast comes in very large portions. Overnight guests can start the day with help-yourself cereal and toast, or order a cooked breakfast that runs from poached egg on toast to a full English. The car park is small.

Customer Review Summary
Roast dinners and Sunday lunch draw the most mentions, with diners calling the Sunday roast fantastic and the portions very big even in the small size. Close behind are the steak pie, fish and chips, home made chips and puddings, alongside friendly staff. Overnight guests report comfortable beds and a help-yourself breakfast with cooked options to order, and one suggests booking a table ahead. The complaints are specific. One diner found the roast turkey flavourless with rubbery potatoes. A large birthday group sat at separate tables and waited on a forgotten chicken burger while the rest went cold. A dog owner found only three tables usable with dogs, and another found the car park very small. Another party was served standard-bun burgers with onion rings instead of the pulled turkey specials in a beetroot bun, then received a wrong replacement with no apology.

“All very good. Had Sunday lunch, tasty and plenty of it. I would prefer gravy separate. Didn't need as many types of potatoes. Dog friendly area”

“Stayed for a night, just B&B. Room fine, clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast, friendly chef. Didnt eat in the pub at night, menu looked like good pub grub. Enjoyed our stay, good value for money.”

“TLDR: Only the rooms really work as dog friendly, if you plan to use the bar find somewhere else to stay. The room was dog friendly and was clean enough if a little dated, but for the price that is about what I would expect. The food was also quite nice. The pub/bar is advertised as dog friendly, at best it is dog tolerant they have what equates to three tables they allow dogs at, which they also don't stop anyone else sitting at for food, so the chances of you getting a seat are pretty slim during food service. In addition we stayed there because they were dog friendly and had the pub attached to the accommodation which meant we had somewhere to go, we visited on the easter bank holiday and on the Sunday they closed at 8:30pm so we ended up just driving home as staying the night became pointless. Edit for venue reply: I didn't say we didn't enjoy it. But your limited dog friendly restaurant space of only 3 usable tables is an issue for people with dogs. Also I said it was good you allowed dogs in rooms, if you stayed open this would be perfect for people looking for a place to stay for outdoor pursuits.”

“Hi i booked a table for 20 a month ago for my daughters birthday , on the night I booked i was told we needed to send pre order in the next day this was 4 weeks before we actually sat down to have the meal. Which i thought odd but did anyway. Yesterday I phoned to cancel 3 food orders because of a family emergency that was not a problem. On arrival I was meet and went through the order and confirmed, the staff did not feel friendly or treat us with any common respect you would think beeing in a hospital. We were sat all over the place in separate tables wich I was not told this would happen or I wouldn't of booked the table, the food wasn't anything amazing and we had to wait 15 minutes because you forgot a chicken burger in that time most of our food was cold. No one came to see if everything was ok with the meals or asked if we would like any drinks. Once everyone had finished we waited 10 to 15 minutes for our plates to be taken away. We were not asked if we would like and desserts and felt like we needed to leave. I'm very disappointed as this was the first time I have been and I shall not return nor will my family. , then a family member heard you have a large function room upstairs that could of fitted us all together but was not offered this. I sent an email because I thought I'd get a response but I have waited 4 weeks and heard nothing.”
