Customer Review Summary
Reviewers consistently center on the front of house service, with the manager singled out in most reviews for being welcoming, attentive and good with wine and main course advice, and for seating one party in a roomier area rather than at a tiny table. Close behind is the food, described as fresh, tasty and nicely presented, with the venison, truffle mash and pumpkin puree, the local cheeses and the cheesecake named specifically. Sauces are called some of the best a diner has had, and portions are described as big. Cocktails also earn praise, including the Passionfruit Martini, the chilli margarita and a secret garden mocktail. Tables are described as private enough to talk freely, and the setting as tranquil and cozy. No real complaint recurs. One reviewer says the weekend fills up and suggests booking in advance, and another had failed several times to get a table before landing one on New Year's Eve. A parents' 60th wedding anniversary lunch ended with both saying the front of house made the whole experience.

“Where do I begin? The food… perfect blends of quality ingredients and flavour, not too rich, presentation excellent. Each course exceptional. The service just as good, Ben and his team could not have been more welcoming, attentive, and friendly though-out the evening. If only service was this good at other top restaurants. Beautiful setting with every attention to detail taken care of from the decor to the fine cutlery. A faultless meal worth every penny and more. Could not recommend this place higher. Best place to eat in Worthing? Easily! Well done Ben, we’ll be back.”

“Lovely restaurant set in Findon village, West Sussex. Ben, front of house was brilliant throughout the evening, great advice in regards to wines and main courses, he was very engaging, friendly and on point regarding service 👍. The food was fantastic, the quality local produce, the presentation and flavours were absolutely amazing. The venison was perfectly cooked, and the truffle mash, pumpkin puree had great flavour. Great selection of local cheeses, enough to share & the cheese cake just finished the meal perfectly 👌 2 course / 3 course choice - sensibly priced. Definitely worth a visit, probably wise to book in advance e if going at the weekend.”

“Booked in at the Sylvan Oak for a belated birthday celebration, Ben at the front of house was enthusiastic and attentive throughout the whole evening. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming and the food and drinks selection was great. 10/10 service, we had a wonderful evening.”

“If you want a treat, I mean a real treat-this is your place. Set in a gorgeous village in the South Downs it really is an amazing place to visit. We were a table of 4 and I can't fault the service and attentiveness of the staff at all. The food however, is the real star as you can see from my pics. A great place to eat, drink and be merry!”
