About Kolbeh Worthing
Kolbeh Worthing is a Persian restaurant on Ann St in Worthing, and the first of its kind in the town. It comes from the family who opened the UK's first Persian restaurant more than 50 years ago. The entrance is a plain street-level door with the name on the lintel, next door to Giuseppe's, and a staircase leads up to the dining area, where the tables are well spaced. The menu runs through lamb and chicken mains, with lamb chenjeh and corn fed chicken shish among them. Starter dips arrive with homemade bread. Persian tea closes the meal, alongside a pistachio, rose and raspberry cheesecake. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed Mondays. Its large venue can be hired for private celebrations and corporate events, which suits groups.

“Delicious food at a lovely restaurant, well laid out and spacious. The food was cooked perfectly and came in large portion sizes with a great variety of options, I recommend the barberry rice. Definitely a hidden gem, it was not too busy when we arrived and the atmosphere was very nice.”

“Excellent food, not your mainstream, with variety, new tastes and aromas. Good size portions, comfortably priced. Friendly and attentive (but not excessively) staff. Tables well spaced, decor quiet and conveys the right 'feel'. This place is a gem, but not too easy to find. Ann St is a pokey little road just off the touristy area, the entrance is a plain door with the name on the lintel, and you go up stairs (wheelchair access?). However, if you can find Giuseppe's, another excellent restaurant, Kolbeh is next door.”

“Visited this place today as i have never tried Persian food before and absolutely loved the food. I had the Kolbeh Momtaz and devoured the whole plate, both the chicken and lamb was cooked to perfection. The barberry rice was extra, but worth the extra few pounds. If you want to try Persian food and you're in the Worthing area, then come here. You won't be disappointed. I even turned down the dessert as the dessert stomach was full as well.”

“Lovely hidden gem in Worthing. Beautiful decor, very friendly and attentive waiters and great food. I’m not a lamb lover but tried lamb chops and lamb kofte, and both were so well seasoned that didn’t have the horrible aftertaste of lamb that linger in the mouth. The Corn fed chicken was also so delicious and tender that didn’t expect something as boring as chicken shish can be so yummy. The pistachio, rose and raspberry cheesecake was also very good. Everything was served quickly and in beautiful plates. The waiters gave us the exact amount of attention. There are places where the staff will barely pay any attention to you once they take your order and serve it to you, or there’s places where they’ll be too intrusive and constantly asking you if you need something, if you like the food, if everything is ok. Here everything was so well balanced that it gave me the feeling that communication between front and kitchen was very smooth, hence the whole service was smooth. The only suggestion I can give is to make the restaurant’s entrance easier to find. My boyfriend was ready to give up, but I insisted in looking better for the place. He didn’t regret after that. 😄”

“Went here with my wife at the weekend. What lovely food we had. Service was really good with the waiter not able to do enough for us. We had starters and a main each with a beautiful bottle of rose wine. It felt like a really nice place to eat with a warm ambiance and really helpful staff. Only thing I think they need to do is let people know exactly where it is as if you don’t know the area you could walk straight past it. Maybe better signs outside would help.”

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the lamb, praising the lamb chops, lamb kofte and lamb chenjeh as tender, well seasoned and "melt in your mouth." Close behind are the chicken dishes, including corn fed chicken shish, chicken thigh and the Kolbeh Momtaz, which one diner cleared entirely. The barberry rice is recommended by more than one reviewer, though one notes it costs extra. Starters of hummus and dips with homemade bread also draw praise, and Persian tea, baklava and a pistachio, rose and raspberry cheesecake are mentioned among the sweets. Portions are repeatedly called generous, and the waiters are described as friendly and attentive without hovering. The one recurring complaint is finding the place: several say the entrance is a plain door up a flight of stairs on Ann St that is easy to walk past, and they suggest clearer signs outside. One parent notes there are no chips, though a kids size portion of one main was offered, and one diner turned down dessert after being too full.
