About Meze-Meze

Meze-Meze is a family-run Greek restaurant at 168-170 South St in Lancing, just off the seafront. The owners work both front of house and in the kitchen, so the people running the room are the ones cooking. With roughly 15 tables, the space is small, and reservations are required. The menu runs to 127 dishes and is built around meze to share, with Spanakopita and Taramosalata among the starters. For mains, the kitchen prepares both fish and meat, including xifias plaki, which is swordfish. Souvlaki and grilled chops are also on the menu for those who prefer meat. Mythos beer is on the drinks list.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the grilled mains, with fish and meat both singled out. One reviewer describes chops with slightly charred fat edges and juicy souvlaki chunks, another calls the swordfish xifias plaki tasty, and a third describes a shared meze followed by fish and meat that were fresh, tender and well seasoned. Greek salad, hummus and vine leaves also get nods. Portions are repeatedly called generous, and several reviewers call the food good value. The family owners and staff are described as friendly and lovely, and one reviewer says the owner explained a delay on a packed evening, which they didn't mind. The one reservation comes from a reviewer who found the fish nice but not all fresh. Another, who walked in without a booking, got the last table in a small room that was fully reserved. A long-time regular calls the food authentic, and one family says they usually end up taking food home.

“Had a fantastic meal at this Greek restaurant. We had the meze to share, which was a great way to sample a variety of authentic flavours. Everything was fresh, well-presented, and full of taste. Followed by a variety of main courses, we ordered both fish and meat dishes, and both were cooked perfectly. The fish was fresh and beautifully seasoned, while the meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. The portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that really captured the spirit of Greek hospitality. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Greek cuisine.”
