About Smoke

Smoke is a cafe and wine bar in Wilmslow at 44 Water Ln, opened in collaboration with the award-winning Cheshire Smokehouse. The business runs several menus for different times of day. The brunch menu includes a build-your-own option alongside standard dishes such as the Full English breakfast, and the pastrami and hot honey flat bread is on the food menu. The building has three storeys and works as a cafe, bar and restaurant, with seating on the middle floor. Dogs are welcome, and the counter keeps dog treats for them. The kitchen keeps shorter hours than the bar.

Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers come for the build your own brunch, with one diner choosing the Full English and another assembling sautéed mushrooms and roast cherry tomatoes on toasted sourdough. Close behind are the smoked chicken, bacon, spinach, chilli jam and cheddar wrap, the pastrami and hot honey flat bread, and a pizza one reviewer collected as a takeaway and called the best they had had. Fresh orange juice is singled out as refreshing, and one family who returned as breakfast competition judges found the food delicious as always. Service is repeatedly described as prompt, friendly and courteous, with young staff working across the three floors, and several mention a good vibe at breakfast and in the evenings. One reviewer notes the place can get busy, though another arriving on a sunny Saturday lunchtime was seated straight away and spotted dog treats waiting on the counter.

“The food here is the best pizza I have had in thsi and it’s be renovated which I didn’t know so was pleasantly surprised when I came to collect a takeaway. Ruby gave me my order and she was the sweetest energy, she probably didn’t realise how much she made my day or how much her kind gesture meant to me today especially. It really makes such a difference when the staff are so welcoming and genuinely kind. Thank you so much 🩷”

“Always a pleasure and always a good vibe with friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Best place to chill in the evenings and even better spot for breakfast!”
  • Jonny Nixon
“Visited during a busy and sunny Saturday at lunch time and got seated straight away. Really nice vibe inside and out, as well as being dog friendly (dog treats on the counter). We both got the pastrami and hot honey flat bread which was tasty! There's a "build your own" brunch section, but lots of really interesting looking dishes, something for everyone to be sure. Not bad pricing for the area either, about £12 for the flat bread dish, which is about standard these days.”
