About The Secret Garden Coffee Lounge

Round the back of 63A Preston Rd, The Secret Garden Coffee Lounge hides a garden seating area, and that outdoor space gives dog walkers a place to stop off with their dogs on the way home. Breakfast anchors the menu, served in a smaller version and a larger, heartier one, with lunch following through the daytime alongside coffee, tea, cake and drinks such as a mocha latte. Indoor tables sit alongside the garden, so eating outside is an option in the warmer months. The team has seated whole walking parties in one go, which makes the cafe workable for larger groups, and reservations are recommended. High chairs are on hand for families with young children, and the step-free entrance means visitors with mobility needs can get in without a kerb or stair. The cafe runs Tuesday to Saturday during daytime hours, closing on Mondays and Sundays.

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is what brings most people through the door, with one first time visitor singling out the Secret Garden Brunch as delicious and another describing a hearty breakfast after finishing work. Close behind, reviewers praise the staff repeatedly as friendly, cheerful and welcoming, including a walking group who thanked them for handling a large party at once. Several also mention smaller orders holding up well, a small breakfast with a mocha latte, and coffee, tea and cake, and more than one notes the food is freshly homemade. The garden at the back and the option of indoor or outdoor seating come up often, as does being able to bring dogs inside, with walkers and one customer waiting on a nearby groomer calling in. A dissenting reviewer found the room so cold that diners kept coats on, received no greeting or ordering instructions, and said everything but the eggs arrived cold.

I do not understand how this place has got the rating it has? The place was so cold inside everyone had their coats on, it was not comfortable at all. The service was bad, no greeting or explanation of how to order. The food came extremely quickly, too quickly as it’s obvious that the food had been in a hot drawer for ages as it was cold, like actually cold. The only thing that was cooked fresh were the eggs. I will stick to The Old Bank in Orrell from now on as you are guaranteed a lovely breakfast with great service.

A beautiful “secret” 🌿 Great little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Great choice of food , though seeing I had just finished a job a hearty breakfast is just what I needed 😃 Lovely staff very helpful. Definitely a place to stop and have something. I’ll be definitely visiting again 👌

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
