Customer Review Summary
Soup is the most frequent draw, with diners calling it always gorgeous and homemade, including a sweet potato and butternut squash version. Close behind are the sandwiches and toasties, such as a festive turkey, a Wensleydale and cranberry, and a tuna melt, along with the mini afternoon tea served with a fresh Rosso signature scone, described as crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Homemade cakes also come up, especially the Manchester tart, including a coconut one. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, welcoming and accommodating, including toward a diner with health difficulties. The main caveat is demand. One reviewer who had not booked found it very busy and would reserve next time, and another says the price point makes it a special treat. One describes the seating in The Lodge as warm. Two reviewers close on the same moment: staff offered a small taste of the soup before ordering, once in a little teacup.

“Found this lovely place after having our baby scan, we’re not local to Wigan, so I scoured google to find a really nice cafe to eat dinner at before we drove home. I’m so glad I found this one! The food is incredible, all homemade and heartwarming! The soup is always gorgeous, we’ve been twice so far & now we will be visiting again soon with our 7 month old baby! Cannot recommend this place enough, the staff are so welcoming & lovely.”

“What a place!! Was recommended to me but went far and above my expectations. Soup of the day was sweet potato and butternut squash which they brought a little teacup so we could try. Extremely clean, friendly staff and awesome. Didn't get to try the cake but that gives us a reason for a return visit, not that we need it! Perfection!”

“It is well worth finding this hidden gem close to the town centre of Wigan. Such a friendly and cosy atmosphere, a range of super delicious cakes, toasties and sandwiches. My favourite is the mini afternoon tea, where you get a fresh Rosso signature scone with your sandwich. I love coming back for more again and again and again. Don't miss, must visit!!!”
