About The Courtyard Cafe
The Courtyard Cafe is a cafe in Wigan, set in Jackson's Court between the bus station and Hallgate, near Wigan Wallgate railway station. It spreads over two floors and puts burgers at the centre of the menu, with specials such as The Elvis and Chicken Parm. Dirty fries come alongside them. The vegan side of the menu includes vegan burgers and vegan wraps, so plant-based eaters can order the same kinds of dishes as everyone else. Breakfast comes in a standard size or a full size, and the Farmhouse breakfast is one of the English breakfast options. Dogs are welcome, which suits anyone walking in from the station with a pet.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the breakfast, with the Farmhouse breakfast and the full English singled out as filling, fresh and hot. Close behind are the burgers and dirty fries, where diners name The Elvis and the Chicken Parm specials and the many burger options. A vegan burger and vegan wraps also draw praise, along with a chocolatey mocha. Value comes up repeatedly, with several calling the food good quality for the money, and the staff are described as friendly and lovely in nearly every review. The one real complaint comes from a late-afternoon visitor whose two vegan burgers arrived missing listed ingredients, and a dish meant to come with curry sauce arrived without it and was a little flat. That reviewer found the staff a bit casual with requests, though both burgers were still tasty. Another reviewer's takeaway order was being packed up right on time despite a busy cafe.

“A hidden gem near Wigan Wallgate railway station. On a cold and damp Friday morning, I bumped into this cozy cafe, treated myself with a nice breakfast. Staff were very nice and friendly. Good food at a great price. Defo visiting again! They serve full and standard-size English breakfast. For me the standard would be big enough 🍳”

“Loved the woman working there - she was so accommodating of our orders. The food came out piping hot and was delicious. Chicken was crispy and juicy. The sauces and toppings are unique enough to be interesting but familiar enough to be classic. Fantastic mocha - nice and chocolatey without being bitter. I wish I lived near here so I could eat there often!”
