About Santos Cafe
Breakfast leads the day at Santos Cafe, a family-run cafe on Mesnes St in Wigan, where a couple runs the kitchen and the team serves at the tables. The full English arrives in a standard size or as the larger "mega" version, and the baguettes bring a steak or chicken filling alongside burgers, jacket potatoes, salads, toasties and a sausage and egg barm. Hot drinks run from lattes and cappuccinos to tea served as a pot. No booking is taken, so customers walk in and order for a quick breakfast or a sit-down lunch between shops in town. A step-free entrance lets visitors with mobility needs get in without a kerb or stair, and high chairs mean families with young children can settle at a table together. The doors open Tuesday to Saturday in the daytime, with Mondays and Sundays closed.

Customer Review Summary
The breakfast is what brings people back, described variously as the traditional, large, and mega breakfast, with reviewers calling it piping hot, fresh, generously portioned and well priced, and one singling out the bacon. Close behind sits the steak baguette, praised by a lunchtime visitor as among the best they had eaten and named again by a regular alongside the burgers. Others mention the chilli cheese burger, a sausage and egg barm, and the wider spread of jacket potatoes, salads and toasties, while lattes, a cappuccino and a pot of tea come in for steady praise. The couple and staff who run it are repeatedly called friendly, welcoming and genuine, and one reviewer recommends it as a go to breakfast or lunch stop while shopping in Wigan. Several describe the room as calm and relaxed, and one anxious first timer notes the menu spelled out how to order tea and what happens next, which made the visit easy.

“I stumbled across Santos Cafe on my lunch break and I cannot recommend it enough!! The steak baguette was one of the best I’ve ever had and kept me full for the rest of the day. Extremely well priced for the portion size as well. All the food on the menu sounded amazing, and I struggled to decide between all the good options and will definitely be trying the chicken baguette next time. The couple who run the cafe are lovely and were really welcoming - they both went above and beyond to make sure that my food was tasty and that I was well looked after. Cannot recommend enough, and excited to try more of the food very soon! Thank you both!”

The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, you can tell they really care about their customers. The food was outstanding and fantastic value for money. I always have the traditional breakfast and everything was fresh, tasty, and cooked to perfection. Generous portions too! The latte were spot on as well. This place is a proper hidden gem in Wigan. Whether you're popping in for a quick breakfast, lunch while shopping, or a relaxed sit-down meal, Santos Cafe delivers every time. I'll definitely be back soon – highly recommended! 👍”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
