The Hare & Hounds is a traditional pub on Ladies Ln in Wigan, with an open fire in the bar. The drinks list centres on a rolling choice of cellar-conditioned cask ales, with lagers and ciders alongside. Pork pies are sold behind the bar for anyone who wants a bite with their drink. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to The Hare & Hounds above all for the well-kept cask ale, with a rolling choice of cellar-conditioned beers that one visitor says recalls what local pubs used to be. Close behind is the landlord, described as active, welcoming and keeping everything together. Reviewers also mention the lagers, ciders and spirits, and juicy pork pies sold behind the bar. Several call it a traditional boozer, and one points to the open fire. Dog-friendly comes up repeatedly, along with friendly bar staff, a good smoking area and decently priced beers. Visitors describe a quiet pint among chatting customers of all types, and one says nobody batted an eye at their disabled son. The only complaint is a single reviewer's wish for the television or the jukebox to be on, but not both at once. One reviewer who went in once says it became their local.

“A splendid little pub - in the true sense of the term. Popped in here for a swift drink; what a treat. As you find it, but excellent pint, busy with chatting customers of all types (no one batted an eye at our disabled son) no duff duff music, humorous bar staff with eagle eyed landlord checking all is well. Sick of fruit machine bars with steel counters and gassy lager - set course for this place.”
