Customer Review Summary
The caveats are real but less common. One diner found the bubble and squeak tasteless, mostly broccoli and peas with little potato, topped with overcooked bacon and a runny cheese sauce that did not seem home made. A vegan diner found only a pie on offer and left hungry after half a small bowl of soup with half a roll. One visitor, given an hour limit on a table in a near-empty pub, called the food just ok.

“Stopped by whilst I was travelling through towns on holiday. I have to thank the staff for letting us have a table for food without a booking. We just walked in assuming you can. It wasn’t busy and the place was practically empty, however we was told that we can only have the table for an hour - which was ok for us. There was a good selection on the menu, service was fast as & price reasonable. Food was ok, wouldn’t visit again though for food, but maybe for a drink. It is a dog friendly place, bonus. Overall it’s ok, but wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.”

“Popped in for a evening meal didn't book but thought we'd take a chance getting a seat. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted and seated. Food was piping hot and delicious. Would recommend 100%.”

“We drink here on a regular basis and it's always welcoming and friendly. We had a carvery here also and really rate it. The best bit of roast beef and all the veggies. Highly recommend it for a friendly and welcoming pub.”

“Such a lovely pub the food is great we had Sunday carvery. Best beef I've had for a long time. Staff go above and beyond and are so friendly. We are going again Thursday night, we like it so much. Highly recommend.”

“Nice and comfortable more food led pub, well looked after and reasonably warm. Sadly H&W don't seem to have lots of vegan options to eat and here it was minimal. Just a pie. We asked and we're told the soup was 'probably ok' so had that. It was fine tbf but half a small bowl served with half a roll is great shrinkflation. No check back so couldn't advise re the onion skins as added extra but shows was home made at least. Left hungry”
