Customer Review Summary

The cask ales are the clear draw at this traditional Black Country pub, with reviewers repeatedly praising the beer selection, including Holdens bitter and a rotating handful of hand pump beers, kept in what several describe as top condition. Close behind is the cheese and onion cob, called out for its quality and value since no hot food is served. Multiple reviewers highlight the unusual setup of a pub with no bar, the peaceful canal side or nature reserve location, and a welcoming, friendly atmosphere among the locals and staff, with one visitor recalling being helped by a young child on site as a standout moment of kindness. Dog owners note it as a good stop after a walk, and the beer garden gets mentioned as a pleasant spot in warm weather. No recurring complaints appear across the reviews, which are uniformly positive about the beer, the cobs, and the traditional, unpretentious character of the place.

What a great local pub. One of my favorite pubs in the world here in Rushall. Great beers from Holdens, bostin cobs and snacks. Nice and cool bar and beer garden when its the hotest June day in record. The staff are excellent too. Try the holdens bitter its really very good

Fantastic old pub oozing character and one of the few left in the country with no bar. 4 Marston's beers on hand pump.

Lovely, quiet, old traditional local pub. Nothing flash, no hot food, no music. Just good ales and beer and company.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
