About The Boathouse
On Park Rd in Walsall, The Boathouse is a pub and function room facility set beside a canal, with a garden area on the water's edge for outdoor dining. The kitchen runs a Sunday lunch with meat, vegetables, and gravy, alongside a mixed grill of steak, gammon, and chicken and a ploughman's served with a side of skin on fries. Cobs are also on offer, and cheesecake covers dessert. Sport plays across the TVs, and a quiz night runs as a regular fixture. Dogs are welcome throughout, and a step-free entrance keeps the room accessible for visitors with mobility needs. The venue opens daily, and reservations are recommended. Beyond the pub trade, the space doubles as a function room and live music venue, giving groups a setting for larger gatherings alongside the regular bar service.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch draws the most consistent praise, with reviewers repeatedly calling out the roast vegetables, gravy, and a homemade cheesecake for dessert, alongside menu items like the goujons served quickly and fresh. Several describe the food as looking and tasting great, with brilliant service and reasonable prices, and one reviewer notes the meat is sourced from a local butcher. Close behind the food, the pub itself earns notice for its narrowboat centerpiece, live music stage, darts area, and canal-side outdoor space, with regulars praising quick, friendly service and a decent pint of ale or Guinness. A few mention tired furnishings and one wished for a better lager selection. One reviewer, however, describes being asked to leave while waiting to order at the bar during a birthday celebration, saying a bartender found their presence uncomfortable despite no interaction, and calls the treatment unprofessional. Most other visits close on repeat trips for darts, pints, and Sunday roasts, with diners saying they'll be back.

“I went in today to celebrate a birthday with a group of 6 people, just for some drinks and to watch the band play, which I heard about. I only walked in and stood by the bar. A woman approached me and told me I had to left, because I was making the bar tender, Martin Alexander Hunter feel "uncomfortable ". I hadn't said anything, done anything or even had the chance to buy anything, i just stood by the bar waiting to order. How I was treated was appalling and very unprofessional. Because of this, me and my group left to go somewhere else that was more welcoming and professional. I haven't been to this establishment for a while due to the fact I don't drink very much at all, but because it was a family occasion, I hold that personally and have every right to attend a public place. It is to my understanding that you don't bring personal problems to a place or work right? I had no intentions other than to celebrate a birthday. And for someone to try and embarrass me infront of my partner and my family over something that has nothing to do with anyone or the establishment itself, is disgusting. I will be taking this further because this was unreasonable and completely unnecessary.”
