Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers describe a friendly, old school local pub, and the welcome from the bar staff is the most repeated praise, with one reviewer calling the person behind the bar lovely and another singling out the lady serving on a Sunday afternoon. Close behind are the cheap cobs, the back beer garden with outdoor seating, and watching sport over a shandy or a game of pool. Dogs are welcome, and one reviewer mentions a Thursday band rehearsal space that is gaining momentum. The beer draws mixed comments. The John Smiths is called good, but a few find real ales limited and one says the beers are standard and nothing special. Two one-star reviews raise more serious complaints. One visitor with a young son received no greeting, was told children are not allowed after 9, and found both gents' cubicle locks broken, the hand dryer not working and no paper towels. Another reviewer says they overheard a new bar worker being told she would not be paid, then called "useless" in front of customers. A few say the place is quiet and clean and tidy.

“It's a great place if you after an old school traditional pub. The beers decent the staff are really welcoming. The gaffer is accommodating to local talent. A small band rehearsal space on a Thursday 19:30 which is gaining momentum and will soon make for a decent amateur open mic night. Even sells cobs! 👍🏼🤘🏻🎸🎶”

  • Louise
“Went in today with my partner for a drink and we over heard this young lady that had just started working for them being told that she wouldn’t be payed for her work then said she wasn’t right for the position due to her lack of skills when she did mine and my partners drinks and there wasn’t a problem with either of them while we were their then the lady behind the bar began to tell all the customers who was sitting at the bar that she was “useless” and couldn’t do anything I never review places but I think it’s disgusting that people can not pay someone for there work it’s the law would never go there again discussing behaviour”
