Quick info
About Veranda Wickham
Veranda Wickham is an Indian restaurant in Veranda, set in an old building on The Square with a character interior and candles on the tables. Curries arrive at the table in copper dishes. The Kashmiri curry comes with fruit, including banana, pineapple and lychee, which gives the menu a milder option beside the hot curries such as Tindaloo and Phall. Those two cover the spicier end for diners who want heat. The kitchen sends food out in good time, so a meal moves along without long gaps between courses. A seating area upstairs adds a second space beyond the ground floor.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise how quickly the food arrives and how hot it is, with plates and copper dishes described as piping hot. Named dishes that earn praise include the chicken pistachio korma, a Kashmiri curry with banana, pineapple and lychee, the Tindaloo and the Phall, while one reviewer also liked the Goan Chicken, Assam Lamb and Onion Bhajis. Friendly, attentive staff and generous portions come close behind, and several call the prices reasonable. The recurring caveat is atmosphere: a few found the dining room empty and quiet, and a few wish for some background music. One mixed review reports a tough duck Narangi Batakh, overcooked Fish Malabar sea bass, chicken pakoras like breaded nuggets, and an order mix-up when sea bass curry arrived after the table was told it was unavailable. Another called the food average. One happy table was given complimentary food and kindly handed takeaway boxes for the generous leftovers.

“I came here tonight with my family and everything about it was so lovely, the candles and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. When we sat down the menu was so good, and the food came so quickly, and despite some rude customers next to us, the staff were still absolutely lovely and friendly! Would recommend to everyone !!”

“After being let down elsewhere, we came here and wished we had come here in the first place. Delicious food, came out quick, was given complimentary food aswell and the service was friendly and attentive. Very generous portions, they very kindly gave us takeaway boxes, and all very decently priced. Would not hesitate to come here again and I shall be back. Thankyou for an excellent experience. (Side note- atmosphere only marked down because it was so empty, which makes me sad, how more people aren't going there beats me.)”

“Went yesterday for curry. Arrived was seated down fairly quickly and shown to the table. General atmosphere could be improved but found the place was dirty and could do with a revamp. Food was average. So that's why I have given 3 stars.”
