About The Olde Dog Inn
The Olde Dog Inn is an old pub on Billericay Rd in Tye, set on a quiet country route. The bar pours real ales, including local choices, with San Miguel and Peroni on draught. In the kitchen, a set menu runs alongside daily specials, and a chalkboard lists dishes made with local produce. Roast dinners are on the menu too. The pub also hosts a quiz night, which gives visitors a team game to join with friends.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food at this old country pub, with a home made soup, an Italian beef shin stew with gnocchi and a brandy ice cream singled out by name. Real ales, including local choices, and San Miguel and Peroni on draught come up close behind, along with the large outdoor seating area, the play area for children and the plentiful parking. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and several call the pub lovely, traditional and charming. The caveats are specific. One diner found the fish and chips like frozen supermarket fare and a burger bun soggy and burnt, with a loud quiz night and no offer to move tables. A party of nine paying for Sunday roasts found the gluten free options thin: soup and pate without bread, a roast minus the Yorkshire and cauliflower cheese with no price adjustment, and no chef to speak to. They felt rushed and were virtually asked to leave for another sitting, though the gluten free brownie and Eton mess fared better.

“A lovely little find. Plenty of parking, good decent food, staff were friendly and overall a lovely visit.”

“Very disappointed on our first visit. The food was nothing special. I had fish and chips and it wasn’t great. The fish was like a frozen piece you get from Tesco and chips the same. Seemed like they were cooked in an air fryer. For the money it was disappointing. My friends burger had a soggy bun which was burnt. There was a quiz night going on which was really loud and no attempt to seat us away from it. I didn’t complain as the staff seemed to be rushed off their feet with the quiz night. Won’t be back.”
