About Harry's Bar

In Billericay, Harry's Bar combines a bar and a restaurant in a single venue at 38 High St. The bar area sits next to the dining room, so the two parts of the business share one space. Drinks are ordered at the bar itself, and cocktails are made there as well. The business is listed under two categories, Bar and Restaurant, and the bar is its main type. Both a meal and a cocktail can be had without leaving the venue.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the friendly, accommodating service from the bar staff and servers, with one hostess singled out for her cocktails and drink recommendations. Food draws praise too, including fish pie and sticky toffee pudding. The main complaint is a dinner where no one took the table's order, plates sat uncleared, and mains arrived with a starter. One diner found the bar music too loud for conversation.

“Really disappointing experience, especially as the food itself was lovely. We came in early evening and went to the bar to order drinks, mentioning that we also wanted food. We were given menus and sat down, but no one came over to take our order, so we eventually had to get back up and go to the bar ourselves. Our first starter arrived, and then there was a long wait with nothing else coming. Eventually, our mains arrived at the same time as the remaining starter. Throughout the meal, no one checked on us or asked if everything was okay. Once we had finished, our dirty plates were left on the table for at least 30 minutes. In the end, we decided to leave, and only then did someone come over and clear them. There were 3–4 people behind the bar for much of the time, but they seemed to be chatting rather than taking orders or clearing tables. It was particularly frustrating because the food was actually lovely. If Harry’s Bar is offering dining, the service really needs to improve. It’s a shame because the food has the potential to make this a great place, but the lack of attention and basic table service really let the experience down.”

“Very quiet on my visit lunchtime Bank Holiday Monday, but still enjoyed a swift half whilst waiting for the bus. Pleasant service from the friendly team in a very smart bar and restaurant. Definitely one to recommend when in Billericay.”

“Ingrid made our afternoon! This was my first time back at Harry’s in years. We popped in for what we thought would be a quick drink before lunch… and ended up spending the whole afternoon here. The reason we stayed so long was Ingrid. She was absolutely amazing — the hostess with the mostest. She gave us brilliant drink recommendations, great food suggestions, and made us feel completely looked after. Ingrid is a real credit to Harry’s, and I’d 100% come back just for her service.”

“Had a meeting with approximately 40 people on Monday night. Service was exceptional. Staff friendly and everything spotless. We had scrumptious fish pie. Followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Overall we all agreed it’s a great venue for our meetings thanks mainly to the super efficient servers and bar staff. Definitely plan on a revisit with my wife.”
